Changing mechanics of the baseball game

This probably couldn't happen in OOTP 13, but I'd like to see the actual editing of the baseball sport in a later OOTP--changing basic baseball mechanics like the number of players in a game or the positions.

I'm not against the idea, but I'm perhaps the only one

I would love such a feature. As it stands OOTP can not represent the rapidly evolving world of 19th Century baseball so I generally stay away from pre-20th Century play. I'm a bit of a nut when it comes to early baseball history and as such can't stand to play 1800s OOTP. That said, such a feature would be a programming nightmare.

That's the only place where I think this sort of modification would make sense. I would also like to see the game reflect nineteenth-century rules changes -- four or five strikes for a strikeout, five to nine balls for a walk, etc. The game, however, already reflects those rules changes indirectly. For instance, if it took nine balls for a walk (as in 1879), it will only take four balls for a walk in OOTP, but fewer walks will be issued overall.

That said, I can't imagine messing with the basic structure of the game -- for instance, having ten fielders or having three or four DHs in a lineup. After a certain amount of modification, you're no longer dealing with baseball but with some other sport.

I'd still much rather see changes to the financial system that reflect nineteenth-century baseball finances, such as workable independent minor leagues and a fully accurate reserve system.

I would be on board with this idea. I know some people of played softball leagues with OOTP and being able to put a 10th and/or 11th batter in the lineup would facilitate those leagues.

I'd also like to shorten the order to 7 players for my indoor baseball league.

Obviously these would be very problematic and not likely to ever appear in OOTP, but it would be fun to have them.

I agree, it would be cool, but it's severely unlikely. This reminds me of an idea I've had for a while for a 13-man version of American Football.

A 12 man version already exists.

I'm ware of that, my idea was something like a cross between Canadian Football and Rugby League.
