Just curious if you get money for expo games. I was reading about 19th century baseball and the discussion of Troy (Trojans) entering the NL gave some ideas. Apparently there at least some non-league games NL teams scheduled. Just curious if a lot of exhibition games might affect finances. This helps to explain things like why Boston had a month gap in their 1874 schedule.
For those interested, the discussion was about when Troy upon entering the NL tried to do in their rival Albany and hurt themselves. There were 5 mile territorial rights. You league team would play a team within 5 miles of another league team. Troy's surveyor certified Albany was 4.35 miles excluding them from playing NL clubs. Unfortunately for Troy that meant they could not play Albany either and they lost a lot of potential revenue by doing this.
