The 21st Century - A Return to Sanity

One world champion. Eight weight divisions.
A personal return to sanity.

Hey lads,

after reading (and enjoying) some unis like kenyans great
»The Greatest Price in Sports« universe, I feel the need to run my own little modern day uni. Inspired by the Ring's »A Return to Sanity« policy from 1987 I will only use the original eight weight divisions with one world champion. So Amir Khan will compete in the welterweight and Andre Ward in the light heavyweight division for example. Last but not least championship bouts will scheduled for fifteen rounds.
Like in Riptons »Modern Day Boxing« universe it would be great if you can participate in my universe. Give me some feedback, suggesting possible fights or talking about the world ratings. To keep things simple at the beginning I will use only heavyweight, light heavyweight, middle- and welterweight but if you like to see a potential fight with Nonito Donaire feel free to request it. Lastly I will use a magazine called »Inside the Ropes« (lack of creativity I know...)

Have fun.
Cheers.

Thanks for the kind words on my uni, PN.

So are you starting this in 2012, with all the fighters having their current win-loss-draw records? Are you using auto-aging?

Hi there, Professor Nutmeg,

I am looking forward to this! New universes are a great way to keep this board alive. Thank you for the contribution.

Your welcome mate. It is always a joy to read it. Fallow the forum for over a year now (without registry) and it is so great to see how you develop it.

Exactly. I will start in 2012 and fighters will have there proper records. Also, most of them willl be on there prime. I'm not using auto-aging and will age the fighters all by myself.

Nice to have a modern uni. Why isn't Floyd the champ at Welter? Cotto/Margarito- Mosley/margarito-Floyd/Mosley is pretty direct lineage. More so than at Heavyweight. Are you just building to actually signing Pac/Floyd?

Basically you spot a weak point mate. I'm fairly undecided about the welterweight title. On the one hand a showdown between Floyd and Manny for the vacant title woud be a nice starting point for my universe and maybe the beginnig of an in-ring feud (and maybe an upcoming trilogie or something), on the other hand and like you pointed out is Floyd pretty much the lineal champ. Maybe I go with Floyd as champ and we will hopefully see Manny challenging Floyd for the title.

Great

Sounds great I will be following along. Like to see the Klitschko's fight each other.

I will be following it, I like a Universe with only the actual fighters in their actual career states!

I want to thank all of you for your kind words. About the brothers... I hope I am strong enough to resist this fight. But you never know. I remember Lennox Lewis talking about a potential Klitschko vs. Klitschko fight and the business around it. It would be a hell of a fight but as long as mama Klitschko refuse it I will stick on her laws.

Edit: By the way to kick things off I will sim some fights that already happend in 2012 like Alexander vs. Maidana, Mayweather vs. Cotto or Martinez vs. Macklin for the Middleweight Championship of the World (and of course a couple of other fights too.
