new, need help! playing at other computers, etc

ok guys first things first i bought the game online last night, guess i should have waited till tomorrow and only paid 19.99...

anyways...i downloaded the game to laptop at home, got to work this morning and downloaded to work computer using key id. now can i play the same season on both computers or do i have to play on laptop what i play there and only start something new on work computer??? is there a way i can take saved/stored seasons on laptop and transfer to other computer or is it all individual???

also is there a way to have different photos of different stadiums or is it always gonna be the Phillies stadium that is pictured???

thanks for the help, hoping this game keeps me hooked and interested during the hot stove league offseason.

Welcome aboard.
I assume you want To play the same game on both computers continuing the game from where you finished on the other computer. In this case, just copy your .lg folder in the saved_games folder and transfer it to your other game. Memory stick works great for this.
Here's an example:
Let's say your game/league is called 2011.lg. On the pc version, That folder is found in the saved_games folder and it's folder is called 2011.lg
Make a copy of that and save that to your other computer's ootp saved_games folder.
Start the game and click on "Load Game" and choose the 2011.lg.
Now you can play that exact same game and continue where you left off on the other comp.
Once you learn the game better, you will know what folders you can leave out of the copy process to shorten size and time.
Sorry you didn't get the sale price.
Hope this helps and any help you need, just ask.

You can find and use different ballpark photos in the mod section and on padresfan's site. You'll need to decide which ones are best. Personally, I use DesertFox's mlb2k pics as I prefer those the best and they have both day and night pics. Ballpark pics go in the games "ballparks folder" once you have those there, you may need to assgn them to the teams manually. If the package includes the parks.dat file, you may not have to.

where do i go from here

ok so i downloaded the pasta padre file off his mods site for the 2011 / historical stadium photographs...but once they're downloaded to my computer how do i incorporate them into the game...

just curious...are there any other "must do things" for this game, simple things that enhance the overall experience?

big rod, anyone else, would appreciate the help, just kinda tryin to get this game up and running for myself.

Stadiums-You add them to the games "ballparks" folder.
To get them to show up in the game you need to set them up.
1. From the teams dropdown menu on the top of the screen (almost in the middle) select "team options and ballpark info".
2. On this screen on the bottom right, click on "Edit Ballpark".
3. On this screen, click on "pictures and coordinates".
4.This is the screen where you associate the ballpark pic with the team.
5. To load the actual image, click on the Red Rectangular box next to "Daytime Picture" . This will open up the ballparks folder where you should have put your ballpark pics. Select the pic you want to use for that team and you should be all set.
6. If you have night pics, do the same for them...just click the box next to Night Picture instead. And also to the very right top just above the ballpark pic, Make sure you set that tab for night picture & coordinates. If you don't have night versions of the ballpark, just use the day pic. Either way, you need to set it else the game will use the default pic for the teams night games.
Do this for all the teams ballparks you want.
Heres a little trick you need to learn: Once you get your ballparks set up, open your saved_games\your save game.lg folder and make a copy of the parks.dat file and save somewhere safe. Now if something happens to your game or you start a new game. Copy the parks.dat file to your new saved_games\your new saved game.lg folder replacing the parks.dat with yours and you won't have to go through this unorthodoxed procedure again.

This procedure might be confusing for you, but play with it, pay attention to what happens and you'll get the hang of it in no time.
Here chicagofan has some screenies of the procedure that might help with setting the ballparks. They actually pretty much follow along with the above step by step.

The next best 2 things are player photos and Logos.
Logos go in the Logos folder and real player pics go in the Photos folder.
Take some time and browse through the mod section OOTP Mods - OOTP Developments Forums
You'll find the answers and examples of pretty much everything.
Most important is to have patience as you're not going to learn this game overnight and, if you have ?s ask.
Take some time and read this. It's for ootp 11, but still pertains to 12.

good luck and enjoy!!

I'm having a similar issue with 2010 so thought Id post it here. Basically, I got a new comp and transferred all the files under "Out of the Park Developments" in the "My Documents" folder to the new comp's "Documents" folder. I then installed the 2010 demo to verify it works before trying 11, 12. It locates the league, but when I go to load it gives the following error instantly:

Should I have just transferred the "saved_games" folder? I also modded lots of the unis and stadiums etc so wanted that...... and faces.......

Thanks

Anybody tried using some thing like Dropbox to transfer games??

My thought is to make a folder in dropbox with all saved info. Then access it from both computers. Is this doable??

I have had a few problems installing league files in new versions.
This is my recommendation; I am NOT a computer game pro so this comes with many grains of salt.
If you can undo what you did then do so. If not then uninstall/reinstall OOTP, my guess is you have a corrupt file that needs an exorcism.
You should only need to move the league file from your OOTP Saved Games folder.
