What do these AI settings actually do?
Hi
I have v12 and am reading the online v11 guide; but anyway I have little grasp on at least two game settings. They are: I Game Setup - AI Options - AI Player Evaluation Options followed by the four lines: Ratings weight Current Years stats weight Previous Years stats weight 2 years ago stats weight My exact questions here about this setting are: A. Where does "Ratings Weight" here mean? What ratings is it talking about and where do they come from? How are they calculated? B. What does "Current Years stats" actually mean, in relation to bb. Fictional leagues I mean in Fictional Leagues, what does "Current Years Stats" mean? Does this weighting change as the year progresses? bbb. Historical leagues And in Historical Leagues, what does "Current Years Stats" mean? The actual stats of the actual MLB historical season, say 1955? Or the game play stats being accumulated by each player in the 1955 replay? And again, would this weighting change for a historical league? II. I Game Setup - Global Setup - Overall ratings based on AI evaluation, not pure ratings C. Again, what the heck does this mean? Is it referring to the same AI Evaluation as the setting above (I) that I mentioned? If not, how do these two settings (I and II) interract? D. Also- again what does it mean "pure ratings" and where do these "pure ratings" come from? And are they the same as the "ratings" in setting I above? |

I will try and answer as best I can, but happy to be corrected:
A - Ratings are the players ratings, ie Contact, Gap Power, Power etc. They are how good the player is, and the accuracy of these is determined by your scouting (unless scouting is turned off, then they are 100% accurate) B - No idea how it works for historical. For fictional, it means how well the player is doing in the current season, so if you are playing 2051 then it means how well the player is doing in the 2051 season. I believe that early in the 2051 season it will use the 2050 stats, but when "enough" stats have accrued it uses 2051. I don't know how many ABs are needed to switch. C - Overall ratings in this context are the stars (or 20-80 depending on your setting) that assess each player's overall and potential rating. If you select the option then it does indeed use the same evaluation as mentioned above, if you do not select the option then it only uses the ratings. D - Pure ratings are as in A above, they are the core ratings each player has for his ability. Hope that helps, I'm sure there is some stuff I've not said well so ask anything else. |

In response to A.
My understanding is that this setting alters how the computer teams value their own and other teams' players. So you can change how much stock they put in a player's scout ratings, current year stats, his stats from the year before, stats from 2 years before, etc when they're deciding how good he is. If you imagine a 5* rated player who's posted terrible batting stats for the last couple of years vs. a 1* rated player who's posted excellent batting stats, you'll see how these settings can affect how the AI looks at players. |
