Pitchers not being relieved
I'm about halfway through running a few different teams' seasons simultaneously. By and large, it's a terrific app and I love it, but there is one recurring problem that's making me want to give up on the game... at least until it's fixed.
Quite often, when I Quick Play games, or more commonly, Quick Play innings of games (jumping in to play myself when it's interesting or when I have more time), the pitchers are not being relieved in any kind of realistic way, to the point where there are sometimes 15, 20, even 30 runs scored against them (which is also unrealistic, no matter how exhausted a pitcher might be). I have the settings to favor pulling pitchers more quickly, but even if you had that on its lowest setting, there's no way it should ever allow that. Anyway, hopefully that's being fixed for the next update. Last edited by Grudunza; 07-05-2011 at 02:47 PM. |

This is one issue that I've not seen or read about here before. Can you give more details about what seasons you're seeing this in, what version of the app you're using (I'd guess the most current, but can you confirm?) and if you can grab some screen shots of those box scores and post them here, that would be awesome.

It's happened several times now. I'll find an example or two later. I have the latest version and I'm playing two teams (Reds, Mariners) on 2011, the Red Sox on 2004 and the Giants on 1965.

Okay, here are screenshots of the most recent examples of this, all with the RedSox of 2004 (though I know the same thing has happened with other teams/years... the first time I noticed it was while playing the 2011 Mariners, where one pitcher had over 30 runs against them... I scrapped that season after that happened, so I don't have it on record now).
The thing is, I presume this would happen all the time if I didn't specifically change pitchers sometimes as I'm jumping into games after Quick Playing some innings. For some reason, it just doesn't want to change pitchers for me when I Quick Play. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Note below that the game changes pitchers for the other team regularly. However, here's another strange thing... There are only 8 ER recorded, and yet Boston scored 18 runs in this game, and there was only 1 error. ??? ![]() ![]() ![]() This shows that I have the Hook Starters set towards "Quick," but even if the slider was all the way to the right, there's no way a pitcher should ever be left in to get so many runs against them. ![]() Let me know if there's any more info needed to investigate this. By the way, I didn't mention before that I'm using an iPod Touch (4th gen). Last edited by Grudunza; 07-06-2011 at 10:17 PM. |

I haven't seen this in any of the leagues I have run thus far. I wonder if there is something wrong with the "hook" setting with the game. I will try to do some testing and see if there is an issue.

I had bit of the same problem myself, since i liked to qickplay the first say six or seven innings and then play out the last few myself, however, the pitchers were not substituted right, so I started using AI straetgy fo pitching and hitting and only doing the subs in-game, with very fast commentray I get through a game fast enough but don't get the sim-feeling (which I don't like, I never get a feel for my team when simming whole seasons.)
