Help with OOTP Online League
I have created the Online League, in OOTP, and made the file available for the Owners, when I sim the download button shows for the GM's but when they click it it says no file is found.
Can someone who has sucessfully started a league take 5 minutes and walk me through the final step or two that I missed. EMail- Marines990@yahoo.com AIM- OOTPGMTroy I wanted to do the online league through OOTP but I am about to just run it outside OOTP. |

Marines,
Based on what you describe, this sounds like an OOOL league correct? What you are describing usually happens because of settings.. 1) Your online league file download settings within game are incorrect: - In your online league setup, for the league file upload, and league file download, double check to make sure the settings that you input are working. In each field, there is a button to test the settings from within ootp. Try to hit the button under your league file upload settings and under your league file download settings. For OOOL leagues, the league file is downloaded by the individual users via the HTTP url that you provided, as I mentioned in my other thread, make sure your URL listed is actually pointing to the directory and not to an individual file (like was done in previous versions of OOTP). You can also manually try to see if you can download the file in your web browser using the url provided to OOTP.

Thank you for your reply, I think I see the problem. I will test it in a couple hours when I get home.

OK, I checked everything, it is setup and passes the tests correctly.
Disclaimer, I am a first time Commish Can you confirm the steps after the file is set-up. 1. Upload file to website, I put it in the folder gmae/lgfile, should it be in Game/Export? 2. After the file is in the correct location on the website, do I: a. Have the GM's download the file from the site and join the league via OOOL? b. Just have them join the league via OOOL and the file will download through that. 3. Is there any additional steps that I am missing? Here is where I am at now, FTP tests work in the game, file is uploaded to the website (game/lgfile folder). To test the file, a GM downloaded the league file from the website and joined my league lastnight via OOOL and I received the request in game, I accepted, ran a sim and updated the league file and published update (I believe that is what it was called). The GM refreshed and saw a download link on the OOTP screen, when he clicked it he recieved the following comment "No file to update" or something really close to that. I can update this post with the exact message when I get home. Do I need to send him a settings file or any other files like in OOTP11, I sent him the settings file lastnight but it didnt seem to help. |

Is this an OOOL league or non-OOOL league? If OOOL league, you don't need to send a settings file, if it is non-OOOL, it should work similar to it did in OOTP11 (for the most part), meaning that they will need the settings file for the game to know where to download the file from. There are quite a few online issues being resolved in the patch that I think they said is coming later today. Perhaps it would be worth it to just wait and upgrade to that patch and see if it resolves your issue. If it doesn't, I'd be happy to try to help you figure out what the issue is next week when I'm back after the weekend.

Thank you, yes this is an OOOL league, well if I can get it to work in the next few minutes. If not, I am going to do it the old way, not OOOL.

I would advise waiting till the patch that I think Markus said would be coming later today. It has some fixes for OOOL that may solve your issue. (I don't know that I fully understand your issue currently as I'm getting ready to walk out the door soon). If it doesn't solve your problem, then you can decide at that point to doing it the old way instead, or if you want I'd be happy to try to see if I can help next week.

Thank you, and yes if you have time next week then I would love to talk to you for a minute to figure this out.
My biggest problem is that once Fidels video ends, there really isnt anything to tell you what to do next. |
