Negro League players

I plan on starting a replay and I want to know how to import the players from the Negro Leagues. I have the Gambo-Spritz data base. Do I have to import manually each season or will the computer do it?

Thanks

Just guessing here but I would think u would have to do each individual player. But PM Gambo or Spritz to be sure....R u gonna use No Pepper's Negro League uni's? best uniform file on padrefan.

They should import automatically as rookies when they are supposed to.

I am a little confused. I am starting a new replay and I loaded the game and I don't see any of the Negro League players. I am starting in 1901 and there should be some that showed up, but there wasn't. An example would be Frank Grant. The database has his years being 1886-1905. But he didn't show, not even in the free agency pool. I guess I will just put them in manually...

Also, if I use the Lahman database and import Negro League players from the Gambo database, would that cause any problems?

Thanks

None other than you might get duplicate players at some point.

Open the db and search Grant. See if you can find his entry and his debut year.

He debuted in 1886 and didn't show up. I'm wondering if I use the Lahman DB and import from the Gambo DB, will that cause any issues??

I guess my problem is two fold. When using the Lahman DB and importing Negro League players from the Gambo DB, the players retire after one season. So that won't work.

Then if I use the Gambo DB for the replay (and forget about Lahman), then players become rookies before they actually started IRL. They are automatically imported based on their first actual season, even if they were in the minor leagues.

Maybe I am loading the wrong file. For Gambo I used master.csv.

This file did import the Negro League players, but it imported other guys based on when they started in the minors.

So now I see that even Gambo retires the Negro League players after one year. And it also starts guys too early. For instance, Mordecai Brown should begin his career in 1903. But he started in 1901. When looking at his neutralized pitching stats, it shows his career beginning in 1901. Very confusing!!!

Could you give the Negro players a retirement year in the database. I'm thinkng
there's no data there so the computer gets confused and retires them.

You should be using the historicaldatabase.odb file, you need to be using neutralized stats and you cannot have retire according to history selected.

They'll retire when they feel like it. The game engine takes over, and as long as they are productive, they tend to hang around.

No. If you have retire according to history on they will retire when they no longer have stats in the database.

I was thinking it retired players from the last game played field. But
Couldn't you copy the original data for the years he wants the player
to play. And just advance the year for each line of data.

But you can accomplish the same thing much more effectively by having the "Retire according to history" option selected.

That won't work because there's no history to retire the player from. Like Gambo said
the players Negro League players would retire after 1year if you just selected retire according to
history. So that's why I was suggesting to put some stats in the database for those players and then try using retire according to history
