More Extreme Unrealism

I have complained before about unrealistic results and here I go again... I (65 Dodgers) am losing 1-0 in the top of the 9th inning. First two batters reach. walk and a double. So.....second and third, nobody out. Looks like I will at least tie the game up. Then...a deep fly ball to CF, but nobody tags up and scores. Then... a fly ball to the warning track in RF, but again, nobody tags up to score. Then a final deep fly out and I lose.
People on this forum criticize Strat but I guarantee you that my runner on third base would have scored in Strat on a fly ball to the warning track. The more I play the more I get aggravated. Also....Koufax (who was the best of the best in 65) blew another 4 run lead in the 8th inning and no he was not tired. And Perranoski blew another save and he was not tired either. I know that strange things will happen in baseball but this is getting ridiculous...and really frustrating.

I can't speak to the fly ball situation because I've never seen it. I am occasionally surprised that runners don't advance on some outs, but I am also surprised when they do. The problem is that I can't watch the game in real life to make a call. But runners do make bad decisions from time to time and the guy on third COULD have just made a bad call.

But to your other point, you have to remember that you are comparing Koufax in the game to your IDEA of Koufax in real life. The game doesn't know Koufax from any random pitcher with his same ratings. And all pitchers are subject to random fluke variation, even Koufax in real life and Koufax in the game.

If you continue playing long enough, you'll see junk ballers pitch shut-outs or even a no-hitter maybe if you wait long enough. I'd suggest to you that the day-to-day variations in player performance are normal and OOTP is modeling real baseball more accurately than a single game's lost four run lead can challenge.

thanks

points taken...and I do not mean to sound critical. after all I am very thankful that the OUT OF THE PARK folks took the time to make a game for iphone and ipad. The good news is that while I am frustrated....I AM still playing

Similarly frustrating is being up 7-2 heading into the bottom of the ninth and then watching your relief pitchers nearly blow the five run lead only to wind up winning 7-6.

Sounds like the Mariners of about 10 years ago with the exception that the Mariners bullpen would have completely blown that lead

Nowadays the Mariners don't have to worry about that. They wouldn't have a lead to blow in the first place!

Sounds like the real-life Blue Jays the last couple of seasons.

Well, according to the Boston Globe, they seem to believe that Alex A. will look to unload a few relievers next month. Though, after his first off-season I'm both nervous and hopeful.
