SP Injured...Now What?

So I'm playing out my game and my SP gets injured on his last pitch of the inning. My thought is...ok well at least I'll have time to warm up a reliever.

Except I am immediately prompted for a replacement. Is that really necessary? Is the manager expected to name a reliever right away or wouldn't that only be required when the time comes?

Am I just out of luck and have to bring a cold reliever in?

It's a programming limitation.

In real life, the manager would not have to name the replacement right away. Of course, in real life, if the pitcher gets injured the replacement gets as long as he needs to warm up (as opposed to the limited number of warm-up tosses he gets if comes in normally.) I'm not sure if the game factors that in or not.

If the game makes you name a replacement, you could always put in whichever pitcher started your last game. Then you could have whoever you want to pitch the next inning warm up while your team bats. Also, if your pitcher is due to bat that inning, you could just put your pinch hitter in that slot.

You could just throw in a starter who you don't plan on using then warm up a pitcher while you bat. Should be ready to go by the next half inning

I remember asking this question on a previous version of OOTP. The response I got is the reliever is ok to bring in. Something about it is taken into account that the other pitcher left while injured. So he is warm when coming in. I think.
