Photos optional

I have a 1946 historical league in progress and I want to start a 2011 league with the All-In-One-Mod. Is there a way to prevent the 1946 league from showing photos after the All-In-One-Mod populates the /photos folder?

(I want the 1946 league to have no custom player images, but have the 2011 league take full advantage of the photos and facegen feature.)

I have done a lot of searching, and I may have stumbled onto the answer. It appears that I can go to Game Setup --> Player & Picture Options in my 1946 league and uncheck "Load player pictures automatically". I can then populate the /photos folder but the 1946 association does not load them as I open a player profile. Associations with this box checked (it is the default) will load photos.

I hope I have this correct.

Why do I feel like I'm on the PureSim forum?

Oh noooooooo. This is too much.

Jabez??????

Hey, did you notice there's a save during pbp?

Seriously guys, this game is awesome. Have you seen the text pbp? Have you seen the news articles?

The text pbp is really good (done by a user team). The immersion factor is off the charts in this game. I love the news/email system. I like the interaction with the other GM's when negotiating a trade. I like that you have to wait a few days to get answers on trade proposals and contract offers. It all adds to the immersion.

It is hard to go back to the other game without real roster rules such as options and waivers. You can just stash as many veterans as you want in the minors with impunity. No wonder it is so easy to build a winner there.

I am waiting for the first patch to address some balancing issues in the 2011 roster set. Then I plan to take over the 2011 Astros and play forward. It becomes a fictional game quickly as veteran players begin to fade and are replaced by fictional rookies. I will sim a lot of the games in that league, particularly during the dog days of 2011.

I am also playing the 1946 Cardinals, managing every game. I have reserve rosters in this league (15 player limit making a 40-man total roster). I turned off a lot of the rules in this one and tried to make it as "stats accurate" as possible. Recalc after every season, no player development, no scouts and no coaches. It makes the game seem a little more like the other one, but the in-game immersion is still much better. I am using some of the stadiums from the 2K11 "The Show" set on PadresFan's site. They are great!

So... those who are reading this post over here in this teeny corner of the OOTP forum... now know why I have not resumed my PS4 dynasty.

This Game has so much more in almost every capacity ... I just need to take one moment at a time ... whenever I get overwhelm, I do go back to the PureSimplistic way to get my bearings ... I do understand, Doc Orc, WELL ...

I took a vacation at the end of May and visited my brother-in-law, who also plays a lot of games. I spent an afternoon showing him both games. His opinion was that PS4 was a Camry and OOTP11 was a Ferrari. The Camry gets you where you want to go, and does it reliably and comfortably. The Ferrari requires more effort from the user, but rewards you handsomely for that effort. I thought it was a good analogy.

It is a good analogy. Originally I bought PS4 because I was going to switch for a year. Something different for a change. But it just didn't make the grade and I came back to OOTP. Ver12 for what I want in a game is a significant improvement over ver11 and I won't be going back to PS4. You guys might have noticed my lack of posting there although I never did post a whole lot. Has anybody mentioned this game to KG?

... That's the best analogy I can definitely agreed with ... nice !!! ...

How's the Fictional Assn going for you, Orc?

I believe that KG like where he is at ... Once I can get over the sheer size, wealth of info, and so much more ... I may become very comfortable here ... It's the sheer immersion factor of managing the Game and day to day activities that nothing can compare to this ...

Hey Jabez54, glad to see more of the guys from puresim here. I play OOTP for a while then back to puresim and so on. I like both games for what they are. The forums are quite different here than the puresim forums. Maybe one of these days we can have a puresim on line league.

Take care, JP

Thanks! I am too. This forum has been pretty good to me. I guess I don't post enough to get people angry.

I am leaving for France for a week tomorrow, so I won't be posting either place much next week. Hopefully the first patch will be out when I get back and I can start the 2011 Astros/fictional association over the weekend.

Again, thanks, jp ... I do frequent PS4 forum, for the moment ... For I am still plowing forward with OOTP 12 ... I love the immersion factor but I still get overwhelm by the sheer size ... Guess I am in the Majors League level ...
