OOTP 12 is gr-r-r-reat!!!

Markus posted this in a now-closed thread: "While there have been issues with the major league roster set (we're working on correcting them), I feel OOTP 12 was a great, almost flawless release. We are very proud of the game."

I'd like to say that I agree with him 100%. OOTP 12 is great, the release was great, and OOTP 12 is the best version ever.

Thank you Markus and Andreas!

Agreed! I'm just finishing up my first season with the Jays and I think it is the best version of the game ever. I can't stop playing which might be a problem since I'm at work and playing right now! I ahven't even gotten into the offseason to see how cool the International Free Agents are or what the offseason center is like.

Even with his hectic schedule and during this busy time, Markus took the time to have an extended discussion in one of my threads about an issue I thought was important and he his taking care of it in the next patch. I understand he can't necessarilty do this with every issue every time, but he did it this time.

Thank you Markus.

I agree 100%!

With all these annoying posts about rosters and whatnot, this thread is a welcome relief. I'm having a great time in my fictional league so far

I think it's been an excellent release.

I think this is a matter that boards make things look worse than they are.

The isses that I have seen off the top of my head are...
1) The MLB quickstart roster issues - This was mistake when the final build was made and was caught quick. The new version is out and it's much better. This only affects one aspect of the game though. (Heck that rosters get done always amazes me since it's done for free by contributors. The major user created one for MLBtheShow'11 took 3 months from release and had over 40 people working on it)
2) Historical Transactions - Only an issue with the rosters for the initial import year that is basically a result of available information. This is a new feature and will be made better in time i think to include DLs,Susensions and minor league moves.
3) Historical Lineups - One bug with changing lineups and some questions on how it is designed. This is being fixed. Awesome for a new feature.
4) The World Database - Kinda a major issue that has some cosmetic issues. This is already fixed. The fact of how much this was expanded, this is a major feature.
5) Two features not implemented that were expansions to features that were upgraded.

There are so many additional features and tweaks that we have not seen ANY issues with.

I think it's a kind of self-selecting phenomenon, those busy enjoying and playing the game are going to spend their time doing that, and only those with crashes/problems will be posting, desperate for help.

For the love of Christ, can you please explain what you mean by "expanded" and also explain how this world database works differently/better than in previous versions? I would love to try to take advantage of this feature, but everyone is maddeningly silent on it.

Thank you

Download the game. Install it but don't activate it (this is free). Go look at the world XML file. See for yourself. Have a nice day.

The fact that you can mess with the world database inside the game, able to transition the United States from the historical name set to the modern one makes the work needed to simulate segregation and integration about 1e17 times easier. No joke.

Aren't there financial glitches in the game? I impatiently converted my ver 11 season after the 6/22 full release right after the WS ended. I thought I read about free agency not working very well. This is a fictional league....should I wait until patch 1 to continue or is it ok to proceed?

Edit-To be more clear....I thought I read that free agents were signing for far less money than they should. I hate to run free agency in my league if there is a major issue.

Not to mention the reserve clause and autocorrect and game save and...I could go on and on. Best version ever. It's gr-r-r-reat!!!

There will be a financial fix in the next patch. Markus posted that earlier today.

It seemed like there was a lack of availiable money for teams to sign free agents with when they set up the MLB quick start. I gave each team some cash and added 20% to their national TV revenue and it has allowed the league to opperate more closely to what I would expect. Some people were seeing Pujols and Fielder sign for around $10 mil a season in mine they each inked deals of upwards of $20 which is far more realistic in my eyes.

I believe Marcus said this was going to be fixed in the first patch but it is easily something that you can do yourself. Plus if you are importing a game it should bring the financials with it and I don't think you will have any issues. If I were you I would import, make a backup and sim a year to see how the fa signings work.

Wolf, I purchased the game the other day. Installed, checked out the file which is nice and organized, but I don't see anything different in what data is there it how it is used differently.

Now, if the new format and organization of the file and it's ability to be changed in-game IS the crux of this "enhancement" then count me as extremely disappointed and misled on this.

One more thing wolf. I don't post on here to read my own posts. I feel what I have been asking for with regards to info in this is legitimate an the fact that it has been repeatedly ignored is starting to grate on me.

Since you obviously can't answer my question any better than "look at it yourself, have a nice day" then please, don't make a mockery of my inquiry with your sarcasm.

Again. Can someone tell me HOW exactly the "greatly enhanced" world database will improve fictional league and player creation???

I absolutely hate being the broken record here. The release and game may be close to flawless, but the lack of detail on some features completely sucks!

Silvam, I don't know what to say. My suggestions and pleasantries are mistaken for sarcasm, and you seem unwilling to see how a combined and expanded file that can be modified from inside the game(!) is an improvement.

I'm sorry, but I guess you'll just have to be bitter and disappointed about this. And that wasn't sarcasm, either. That was sympathy.

Where exactly is this file located? I am probably just overlooking it but was trying to find it in the ootp baseball 12 folder and can't find it anywhere.
