Unlicensing for re installation

Hi gang..

Since it's looking like I'm gonna have to do a completed re download and re install of the game tomorrow to take care of the roster problems.. i'd like to know how to unlicense the game so I don't waste one. I'm using windows 7.. previous ootp games that I had were on windows xp. Then, you could just right click on the shortcut.. and select the e-license tab and un do it. Now, when I right click on the shortcut. there is no such option. does windows 7 have a different way of handling this? All help is appreciated..

You really don't have to....unless your changing computers..your license is in the config folder and uninstalling the game doesn't remove the key.cfg file..But if you feel safer unlicensing it, here's how. from the game menu, select preferences, then click on the license tab, and click un-license there..
From withing the game, click on the ootp tab top left and select ootp preferences from the drop down then click the license tab.and select un-license..Hope this helps.

Like he said, it is not necessary to unlicense, since you are reinstalling the game to the machine the license expects. Only if you want to move the license to another machine, do you need to unlicense.

I'm really hoping I don't have a similar issue. Got OOTP12 downloaded and installed, activated, then played around a bit with it before shutting down for the night. When I turned my laptop on yesterday, it wouldn't boot up properly (running Windows Vista Home) Had to do a system restore to prior to installing OOTP12 before it would work properly again. Haven't tried to download and re-install yet.

Thanks for the replys guys..

It's funny .. but not 15 minutes after I posted that.. I just checked the preferences tab.. and boom.. there it was.. Oh well.... I've never done anything easy in this life.. lol This is the most helpful group of folks I've ever run into over the years for a product.. nevermind a game. And I've had OOTP since the first version.. Keep up the good work all and tyvm to Markus and all involved with this wonderful simulation.. an armchair GM and managers dream..

Just curious, is the license really at the computer level or user level? For example, on my computer I have an admin account and a normal account. When I first installed the game, I was the admin. I then attempted to run the game as the regular user and I was being prompted to input a license number. Therefore, it seems the license is tied to a user versus a computer itself. Unless there is some way to allow multiple users to share the same license.

The license info is stored at the user level. Whether inputting the license number for two users on the same machine will use up your two licenses, I don't know. I doubt it though, because the machine is what the license checks for....

I was asked if I wanted the game available for all users during installation. That's a Windows/user issue.
