Red Sox Rotation.
John Lackey (62) is rated way too high. He has a higher rating then Buchholz and Beckett. Both of these pitchers are way better then Lackey.

I just finished up my first season with the Red Sox. While I initially thought Lackey was too highly rated, he ended up having eerily similar numbers to his 2010 campaign:
20-6, 3.10 ERA, 238 IP, 19 HR, 74 BB, 155 Ks -- FIP of 3.98 and 4.1 Wins Above Replacement. A lot of people who follow the Red Sox or are Red Sox fans themselves tend to undervalue Lackey. I don't see why. While he gets paid like an ace, he's consistently going to put up respectable numbers for a third starter while eating a lot of innings. |

Beckett who may have been fighting an injury last year had an era approaching 6. There is no way to know when doing the ratings if that era was the beggining of the end or an off year. Now granted Lackey was no prize last year but did win 14 games. Buchholz did have a good year last year but baseball prospectus had projected him to regress this year so take it for what its worth. It's your game if you don't like the ratings change them. |
