Salary Cap

Hello all,

I'm pretty excited about Monday's release. So I'm thinking about building a fictional league. I'm very impressed with the parity in the NHL and I would like to mimic that with my league. Is anyone familiar with the salary cap system in OOTP? Does this sound feasible, to create a salary cap that will allow more parity in my league?

I use a 100m cap and it works great. First 13 years in the league only 2 teams havn't made the playoffs

I use a 70 million cap with team media contracts at 40 million dollars (sometimes some teams earned less than salary cap and did not have 70 million available)
works great!

also I set the average contracts for superstars to 5 million bucks and the minimum salary around 100k. Players will still make 15 million bucks, but it limits too many 20 mil+ contracts

works great!

I prefer increased revenue sharing options (media contract, visitor ticket share, and actual revenue sharing) to a salary cap. I find it a little easier, since it manages itself and accomplishes the same thing. A salary cap has to be managed year to year and has the added burden of dealing with low revenue teams.

Also, the cap is a lot softer than the NHL cap. Teams are allowed to exceed it for a variety of reasons, most commonly, arbitration awards are allowed to exceed the cap.

You have a few options to increase parity. I'd recommend simming a bit to find the one's you prefer.
