Fan Interest / Fan Loyalty / Market Size
Hello all!
Newish to OOTP and first time posting to the boards. I'm sure this has been asked before, but for the life of me I can't find the answer anywhere. If someone knows of it, I'd appreciate being pointed in the right direction. I'm setting up a league and would like to have some semblence of control over the financials. I've worked out how Market Size plays with variable media contracts, but my simulated seasons can't seem to reach any sort of conclusion regarding Fan Interest, Fan Loyalty, and Market Size interacting with Attendance Figures. Has anyone figured out any relationships? Does city population play into those figures? Thanks in advance! -Gray |

Sorry, I definitely don't have a good handle on that part of the game.
That said, there are some real experts within these forums. You might want to post this in the general section to get more views. And perhaps read (or re-read) the manual to see if you can extract anything new from it as I often do when I re-read it. |

Fan interest is quickly effected by moving popular players both Localy and Nationally. I have seen a significant direct effect from "Interest" to attendance.
If you find out anything specific post it here. I put up a "Fan Loyalty" thread on 12-3-09 and didn't get much accurate information. I have asked the 5-6 Beta testers I've interacted with and haven't gotten much from them. Market size I do not know anything about. I also need to disclaim that my views are from one team over 9 seasons in one Online League. This is in no way a systematic study of effect. Good luck, LP

I am certainly no expert, and only gathered my info by experience in several leagues over several versions of the game (which is a relatively small sample size).
What I notice is that fan interest drives the attendance the most. The biggest thing that drives fan interest is wins. Player popularity also drives the fan interest, several points per player (you can watch this grow or shrink immediately as the player joins or leaves the team). Then the next thing that drives attendance is price, although ridiculously high or low prices will have bigger affect than fan interest. Somewhat less obvious is how the fan loyalty affects things. But I think the larger the fan loyalty, the longer a team can go without winning, without seriously impacting the fan interest. I think market size affects the media contract, and also the amount people are willing to pay for tickets. My understanding of fan loyalty and market size are closer to guesses than informed understandings. But fan interest and ticket sales can be seen to go hand in hand. Fan interest is somewhat fickle and changes more frequently. I think if I were to set things up to drive attendance, I would focus on the market size and fan loyalty. I think market size and fan loyalty drive things more in the long run. Last edited by jmknpk2; 12-15-2009 at 07:06 PM. |

One team in my online league missed the playoffs for 14 straight seasons and maintained a "Great" fan loyalty. This is the one I understand the least.
