EBL looking to fill 2 teams

League: EBL
Sim length: 3 days per sim, sim Mon-Fri 8 pm est
In game date: 12/11/12
Rosters: Real rosters
Website: Express Baseball Network • Index page
Reports: BNN Home Page

**MUST HAVE/OWN THE GAME**

Open teams:

League is currently full.

We just finished the 2012 season and are in the beginning of free agency. The Cardinals are a well built team ready to compete right now, the Mets do have a little bit of work to be done but being in a major market, money should never be a problem.

As stated above, we sim 5 days a week, 3 days each sim. It may seem like a lot, but there are no penalties for missing a sim, and if you miss one or two, the most in game days that you would miss is 6. This is a very hands on league, you have more control of your team than 99% other OOTP leagues as you are attending to injuries quicker, making roster adjustments quicker, and making any sudden changes to rotation or lineup quicker.

We have GREAT owners in the league (the best group I have been a part of in my time of playing this great game), very active forum, online AIM users and great activity. Please email me at garycurrier@gmail.com or AIM me at SBMnats.

Thank you,
Gary

I'm the GM of the Baltimore Orioles and I must say EBL has been a great experience especially for a newbie to the online game like myself. The other GM's have always been willing to sacrifice a few moments of their time to help out with any questions I have regarding anything game related.

Gary is a great commissioner who does a great job keeping the league active.

EBL is a great league and if you're a Met's or Red Sox fan this is a great time to jump in especially for the Red Sox.

Great League

The EBL is a great league with a great bunch of active owners. Whoever gets the RedSox are stacked, fresh off a League Championship loss to the Yanks.

A great league to be in. An active forum, great league history, the owners have a lot of control over their teams and finances, and the commissioner runs a good sim schedule and responds quickly to questions.

The Red Sox are ready to compete now, and the Mets are more of a challenge for an experienced GM, but they have a lot of promising prospects and could easily be built into a strong team with the right owner.

As a relatively new guy to online leagues (former Padres GM of the TPBL - any former TPBL GM reading this better grab an EBL team asap ), I can still say that the EBL is simply a terrific league. The 3-day sims (every weekday) are actually superior to the '7-day sims three times a week' schedule, as you get an update on your team every single day.

What makes the league stand out is the fact that:

(a) While the commish is very good, he doesn't dominate the league (as with some other leagues where the commish makes up for 50% of overall forum posts), which I count as a huge plus (being in another league atm that is rather commish-driven)

(b) the overall activity of the league. I'll link 3 posts in the 'general discussion' part of our forums (I hope you can access it as guests) to show you how much many GMs care about making the league an immersive and fun experience:

The Sox are stacked, and are WS-ready (they made the ALCS each time the last 3 years), while the Mets are rebuilding but they are FAR from an impossible job, there's still enough trading chips (reyes, fernando martinez) and some good prospects in the farm. Plus, they're the Mets, y'know

Hello, I'am new to the online leagues and would like to get started some where, this seems like that place. Could someone inform me on how to get started and which team(s) are available for me to take over. I have been playing OOTP 11 for quiet some time and would like a greater challenge. If someone could email me on how to get started that would be wonderful!!

Shot you an email Brian.

Also posted 2 open teams. The new owner of the Mets exported a couple of times and was never heard from again, and the Cardinals were very active then fell off the planet. 28 other teams are very active. AIM is the quickest way to grab a team, SBMnats is my handle on there.

The way an online league is supposed to work is pretty much the same as a solo game except for trading (which you do with other league members via email, PM, AIM, etc), drafting, which is done either by a live draft in a chat room or through the statlabs utility, and the pace.

It looks like you ran into 2 bad scenarios when you attempted to play online, most leagues aren't like that, it is very irresponsible for a commissioner to allow a team to be vacant and not try to either fill it or improve it in any way. The second one, any time that you join a league and have to sit around for 6 weeks before you even play.

Our league is very laid back but competitive. It may seem like we have a fast sim schedule with the 5 sims a week but we only sim 3 game days per sim, it is a very solid and enjoyable pace. Like I mentioned in previous posts, we have a great group of owners, most of them are able to help out with any questions you would have. Just an example, it's almost 1 AM EST and there are 10 league GM's on AIM this second.

If you have AOL IM, please get a hold of me, or feel free to email me with any specific questions, I would be glad to help you out deciding if the EBL is the league for you.

Thanks,
Gary

Like in all things in life there are some good ones out there and some bad ones, best thing to do is ask questions specially questions to the commish of the league if he's willing to help even if your not in the league as of yet then tick the good box. Also check the GM/owner page see if you know anybody in the league and ask them about it, check the league forum out see if it's active or if there's any bad blood between GM's, this however can't be done everytime as some leagues close their forum to the public.

If you get into a good online league it's worth it so don't let a couple of bad league's spoil it for you, in the end you will find alot of good league's within the OOTP community.
