My first OOTP No Hitter.

Name: Telemaco NoNo.jpg
Views: 554
Size: 175.3 KB

Decided to play out this game in my Worst to First Royals / Pirates race dynasty, and #5 starter Amuary Telemaco throws a no hitter, and had he not walked the pitcher Vazquez in the 3rd inning, he would have pitched a perfect game. My first No hitter ever in OOTP. Man I was I feeling it, as I had to face Bordick and Pride in the ninth and both were hitting over .300 hitters. Bordick hit a scorching liner to lead off the 9th, that Gold Glover Benji Gil laid out for and caught.

Man, I was lucky as heck....got my first no hitter in my third or fourth OOTP season ever, I think.

Only perfect game thrown by one of my pitchers so far was a minor leaguer.

I've never had a no hitter in a game I played out. My ace got as close as 8.1 innings the other day in my current league.

I'm in my 36th season with my fictional team, and have had only one pitcher throw a no-no. Unfortuantely, it was a simmed game. I have 47 no hitters in my league history (3 perfectos).

I had my first no hitter at the start of my new season, which is the 7th so far. Martin Perez was the pitcher. Oddly enough, despite striking out 250+ last season he only had 2 during this game with 2 walks.

I just had a perfect game broken up in the 9th with a bunt single in a 7-0 game.....

I'm mad. He's going to get thrown at in our next meeting to make me feel better.

awesome. And I can't help but notice that your pitchers ratings are very mediocre/sub par.

Player Report for #26 Eric Shaffer

That guy just threw a no-hitter against my team in an online league....and was promptly demoted to Triple A after the game.

Player Report for #51 Patrício Romberg

This guy threw a perfect game last year.

That kind of stuff is actually pretty funny to see happen.

Totally off topic, I see John Mabry played first base against you in that game. He was one of my two super-subs (Edgardo Alfonzo was the other) in a Strat-O-Matic league for four pennant-winning seasons in the late 90s/early 2000s.

He backed up first, left and right with good defense while also providing timely pinch hitting. (Is pinch hitting ever untimely?) Alfonzo backed up second, third and short, moving the starters aside a couple of those years. Mabry could also play a decent third, but there was no need.

Koprnkc, do you play out all your games, or was it just a great coincidence that you happened to play out this particular one?

Musta been pretty heart-pounding at the end .

In my experiences, OSA ratings aren't all that good of a gauge on a player's worth. Some players with outstanding ratings don't perform well, and some with mediocre ratings put up great numbers.

For example, here are the stats and ratings ~20 games into the season for Lorenzo Cordero, one of my new league's most outstanding pitchers. He's not a strikeout king, but he certainly knows how to prevent runners from reaching home. But also notice his ratings: only his movement is rated as being good; the rest are average.

I know there's still a lot of baseball left to be played, but you have to admit that those are some great numbers for a guy whose ratings are fairly average.

Also, this is not an isolated case. I could pull up stats from lots of players who either perform well above or well below what their OSA ratings indicate. OSA ratings don't seem to be very accurate (certainly not enough when looking for a draft pick or working on a trade).

That said, here are the stats from Cordero's first 5 games as well as his ratings:

I usually just go into games and sim the whole thing and then check the box. I had a pitcher have a perfect game through 8, with less than 100 pitches thrown, and my manager pulled him for the ninth. I raged so hard.
