Why Does Trading Minor Leaguers Affect Budget?

trying to find me a SS that can both hot and play defense.
I am in the 1st yr in this league yet some teams r broke, figured i will fix it if need be after the season.
I know i cant make a MLB for MLB trade, or atleast 1 that i am happy with....but when i try to trade my top pitching prospect who wont have a future as a SP for my team(long story) for a SS with a potential of 2 stars then click make this trade work now it says i have no one to complete trade.

now i know therre can be several other reasons for this but out of 7 teams no one wants to give me even a crappy SS for a guy that is currently 9-1 2.34 60IP 78K ???!Q@?

i'm confused.

Does the pitcher you're trying to trade have a major league deal, or a minor league deal?

Did you try running him through the 'shop-a-player' to see what you could get back?

Could their scout view their player as a 5 star guy? Is your scout wrong on their guy?
Those are nice stats, but at what level? maybe he is great, at AA and is not gonna get better.
I think with one team, it could be many reasons, when a bunch of teams don't want your player, it would seem he just isnt that good?

What are your trade difficulty settings at?

27 years old isn't exactly a "prospect" anymore.

its not just 1 SS i tried traded this pitcher for. i tried the other 7 teams starting AAA SS. there is only AAA not other minor league levels. most of my teams r broke right now.
The best SS i tried trading for my scout viewed at 3 stars, player devel is off.
My 27 yr old AAA SP has 3.5 stars. and 27 is still a prospect when its his 1st yr in pro ball.

what it comes down to is in yr 1 my teams are broke. i let the AI set up my finances for each team. i have 1975 settings in place. i was hoping that my teams would each get $$ as the season progressed. if all teams r broke after the season is over i will give them each 10k.but maybe not since there wont be any good free agents til after 2008.

How old were the players you tried trading for?

The reason I said that 27 isn't a prospect anymore is because the AI does not see him that way. In my experience once a player hits the age of 25 the AI will no longer consider them a "prospect," reducing their trade value.

Not sure this has anything to do with budget. If you are seeing make this trade work now then usually the AI does not like the deal. Perhaps the only guys the AI thinks would make this trade equal have ML contracts that they can not pay for. First year in the league is rough on trading teams do not have a lot depth yet. I have had no one pop up after pressing make this trade work when teams have money to trade. This usually means the teams want a whole lot more for the guy.

SS are also pretty thin in general in the game. The AI may think that 2 star SS is a 5 star or just not have enough SS prospects to trade. Also SP do not seem to have the premium in trades they have in real life.

In the International league in my game, there's a guy called Vincente Hernandez. He's 36 and he has 39 career major league innings with 35 walks and an ERA of 7.03.

But in AAA this year, he's 10-5 with an ERA of 2.28. 66 strikeouts in 58 innings. The league is hitting .224 off him. And in the winter league last year, he was even better.

Point is, I can shake a tree at any time and get half a dozen guys like that. Pitchers who are over 25 and are capable of posting good numbers in AAA, but are unproven in the majors. Guys like that clear waivers or are Rule 5 drafted all the time. Hell, there's probably a few pitchers like that on my free agent list. I personally wouldn't trade anything decent for such a player... and any shortstop who can field and also hit somewhat is 'decent'. The fact that the AI won't make such a trade is a good sign IMO.

Someone delete this thread already......

i didnt just try to trade a 10-1 2.42 AAA (stats got better since last posted) for 1 SS i tried traded him for 50 SS's the other 7 teams ML & AAA and 7 from MLB, including Felix Martinez, Melvin Mora, Cody Ransom and a few others in AAA for MLB.

so why would the ai want a quality SS from 14 different teams? the only thing that is coming up is the fact that all 8 of my EBL teams r over budget right now. max salary in EBL is 33k. MLB min salary is around 211k so for the MLB SS i tried trading for i cant because i ham -211k in the hole. I already know if i give my team say +10 k i will be able to get A-Rod in a deal.
