Expansion in custom league

I was wondering how expansion worked.

Say I wanted to start a league with 8 teams, how often can I expand and what's the least and most amount of teams you can expand to at one time?

Is there certain time frame on when you can expand? Every 5 years etc...

When I expand is there certain cities I am able to choose from or are those cities randomly generated?

I'm also assuming there is an expansion draft. If so, are there certain players on your team you have to put up for the expansion draft?


Sorry i know that was a lot of questions and if There is a help guide out there that explains all this, feel free to just point me in the right direction

My ABF started out as a 12 team league in 2000. in 2003 I expanded by 2 teams by adding Las Vegas & Atlanta. Then in 2005 I expanded again adding 2 teams to the NL.
You can expand every yr if u decide, but it dilutes the talent level. and add in the offseason.

Hmm, hard for me to say last league that I started with 30 teams I only played 3 season of. and had the full minors associated with MLB. I will say this much, now granted i add players with custom stats, but the talent level is better in my league overall then it was 2000-2002. but i keep dominating the ABF NL while the SL keeps rotating who is good and who is bad the last 5 yrs.

You may see dilution of talent for a season or three after expansion, but I believe the game adjusts itself over time with more quality players in order to meet the settings/totals in the Strategy page of Game Setup, League Setup.
