Hall of Fame selection

I think the Hall of Fame selection is something that could be greatly improved. Instead of simply having milestones that get you in, I think it would be great to have a formula that takes into account various factors. You could use the Hall of Fame statistics reported on baseballreference.com as a starting point. It could also factor in how popular the player was, whether he ever failed a drug test, how well the player played in the post season, how many championships he won, etc. You could introduce a degree of randomization to make it more realistic, and the game could report a percentage of votes the player received. Players who receive a certain percentage of the vote would be eligible for the next year's vote. I think this would make the Hall of Fame selection process a much more engrossing feature of the game.

I agree with the fact that there should be a better HOF process.

After each season on the "SEASON TIMELINE" there should be a Hall of Fame Voting results revealed and then in the summertime there should be a Hall of Fame induction with a little paragraph stating JOE SMOE was inducted today, etc..

For the HOF Voting Results Page, there should be a formula (based on the minimum requirements you set) that would produce a list displaying the results. Granted you should still be able induct your own players manually as well

Bill James (Baseball.reference.com)

Bill James has plenty of mathematical analysis to predict wether an active player should be in the hall of fame.

They are explained thoroughly on baseball-reference.com

Leaderboard Glossary - Baseball-Reference.com

It should be at least a starting point to improve the hall of fame selection as it stands in ootp 11.

If you want additional realism, they should add fictionalized hall of fame voters. Since traditionally they are baseball writers, OOTP should generate fictional newspapers for each city with a baseball team and 2 columnists for each city (2 separate papers per city or one per team). When the HoF formulas are run, the votes are split amongst the writers. Now we can "see" who voted for who. Although I suggest this would be nothing more than eye candy, it would help grow emmersion into our worlds.

a somewhat realistic HOF induction is something i've really been wanting for a couple years now (along with better Award system). Having only so many allowed to be inducted a year after x years after retirement until eligible. (also still allowing the commish to "force" induction)

I hope they consider this. Also seeing "World Series Championships won" in a column in the Hall of Fame would be good too.
