corrupted game- something outside of the .lg?
Hey folks. I've hit an odd corruption problem, was looking for thoughts on it.
I have an about once every other week hang on my laptop where the OS stops responding altogether, a few weeks back this happened while I was backing up an OOTP game, I had to hard reboot my machine and when it came back, the game was corrupted and so was the backup. So I figured this was a bit of an unusual problem, even though it was unlikely to happen again during a save, I've recently been archiving my game backups in .zip files before beginning a new season (I'm rarely play out ballgames). So wouldn't you know it, I get my OS lockup and I'm forced to do a hard reboot, when I come back, both the saved game and the backup are corrupted again, costing me a fantastic season, but whatever, I unpack my zip file into saved games and backups and everything should be hunky dory. Except it's not. I sim up to my first game, sim that game, then sim until my next game and crash. Happened several times. My current plan is to try a reinstall of OOTP-- I'm figuring there's something other than the saved game that got corrupted, but I was curious if there's something I'm missing (other than the contents of backups\my-game.lg) when restoring a game. Thoughts? |

Also had this happen recently. Oddly enough, OOTP was being used then I closed it, I closed a few other proggies, then went to shut down. Got a BSOD.
Rebooted, tried OOTP and got the "may be an earlier version of the game" message, then the "database is corrupted" message. Luckily, I had made a backup and went from there. Odd that the DB would be corrupted even when the game is not open upon the BSOD!
