DH Question
Newbie here with a DH question. How do I send a DH out into the field to play a position? I should be able to do that and lose the DH, making the pitcher hit. I was playing a game and late in the game my left fielder got hurt. My best option was to send my DH out to left field, but I couldn't figure out how to do that. When I went into my lineup, the DH field is grayed out, so I couldn't change it to send my DH out to the field.
Thanks, Daniel |

Never had reason to try it, but what would happen if you dragged your pitcher into the batting order first. I assume that the DH would disappear at that point, leaving you free to give that guy a position.

Steve,
Thanks for the suggestion. Yes, I did try dragging the current pitcher into the vacant spot in the lineup, but was unable to do so. -Daniel |

OK. I guess we'll have to wait for someone who knows the trick.

You can't do it in OOTP at the moment. I think Markus has said somewhere that he's looking at adding it in a patch though.

Have you tried assigning a different player to be the DH.
If that works, then the original DH should have no position and he will have to be assigned to that position on the field. I have no idea if it will work... If you try it, please post the results. (Of course if Markus said it couldn't be done....)

Samurai - I will try your suggestion and let you know if it works.
Cryo - Thanks for your input. If it's not a current feature, but a patch is in the works, I'll just be patient. I love the simulation so far. I think it's interesting that such a detailed recreation of baseball would be missing a pretty basic aspect of the game such as having the DH go play the field. But, this simulation gets so many things right it's easy to understand that some aspects are missed and improvements continually in the works. The DH issue is very minor and does not detract from my enjoyment. I'm having a blast and think this is the most wonderful game for baseball junkies like me. Thanks to everyone for their input and their interest. -Daniel |

The reason it's not in the game at present is because it'd be a major effort to put it. It's a more complicated addition than it may seem on the surface. |

I seem to remember Markus saying that at some point.
