My guy just pulled a Kendry Morales!
Runners on 1st and 2nd with no one out in the 11th.
Batter hits a deep fly to center that gets over the CFer's head. Game over!!!! ......but it comes at a cost. The player, who was having a rebirth MVP-caliber season at the age of 35, tore his hamstring on the play (probably celebrating!) and will miss two months, which is basically the rest of the season. I actually have to be thankful the ball wasn't caught....due to PH and PR, I had literally no batter left on my bench to replace anyone due to injury. Had the game not ended there, I would have had to replace him (a 3B by trade) with a pitcher

I was just saying it HAPPENED. Obviously it makes for a great story, otherwise I wouldn't post it. |

Well, the Angels have had their share of wierd injuries through the years. Adenhart was just the most recent in the killed in car crash area. Mike Miley and Chico Ruiz (Ruiz died suddenly in some fashion, I think car wreck) in 1977 and 1972, respectively. I believe in the 1960s they had a car-wreck cause a career-ender for a pitching prospect. Of course, Lyman Bostock got shot down in 1978 (I wonder if Angel fans felt especially cursed in the 1970s). Plus another potential great in Rick Reichardt had an infection lost a kidney, and then never reached his potential.
And in the first couple decades of the 20th century. They had a rash of suicides involved in the game. Many were former players, I think. Though one player-manager (Stahl) and (especially tragic) Bill Bergen's brother Marty went crazy and committed murder-suicide on his family. So, yeah anything can happen. Though, I obviously never want to see a Marty Bergen in OOTP. (so, maybe we shouldnt want ultra-realistic, I dont know)
