Defensive ratings disappear?

I've seen from one game to the next, defensive ratings disappear for a player's primary position, one that he plays day in and day out. I can understand a player aging and declining quickly, but to have a position simply disappear?

It doesn't keep me from playing them at that position, but it's annoying to see the "Defense: -" in the field.

Scouts? If you're implementing them, you make want to ensure that the one providing the field info is correctly selected on the game screen.

How old is the player in question ? I've seen older players (I use use fictionals) lose it over night (literally).

He's 31 (it's Aki Iwamura), and the rating is back. Perhaps it was a close OOTP and restart it type of issue. I think I must have clicked on something strange as endgame mentioned.
