Which rivalry?

If you could see the best 12-16 teams from each franchise square off against each other over a full season, which rivalry would you like to see?

Basically, I'm considering doing a league would would pit, say, the 12-16 best Yankees teams against the 12-16 best Red Sox teams (or whatever rivalry wins). We would then determine the best franchise of the two by seeing which franchise wins the most games over the course of the season.

I am a Jays fan who about five years ago had had enough of having the rivalry between the Evil Empires crammed down my throat, with all due respect to the fanbases of those two teams. The Dodgers and Giants used to play in the same city. It doesn't get any more intense than that IMHO.

OK, I'm off for the next two days so I'm planning on getting this up and running during that time. Looked like Giants-Dodgers was going to run away but Sox-Yanks gaining momentum. Might have to do one of each

I went with Cubs/Cards but I also really like the Red Sox/Yankees battles. I'm a strong White Sox fan but went for the long term battles.

These are the teams I am planning on using for Giants v. Dodgers. I tried to spread them out throughout the eras while using all of the World Series winners and most of the WS losers. I didn't take any team pre-1900 or the Dodgers pre-1932 when they became the Dodgers.

I am going to use 16 teams from each franchise and split them up into four, eight-team divisions within two sub-leagues. I'm going to play a 162 game season with the division winners and two wild cards advancing from each league.

I'm trying to decide if I should balance out each division with four teams from each franchise or if I should have eight teams from each franchise in a division. The 4 and 4 format could conceivably have all four playoff teams from one franchise whereas the straight 8 would guarantee a playoff team from each franchise. I'm leaning towards 4-4.

Here are the teams...

Giants: 1905, 1912, 1921, 1922, 1933, 1937, 1951, 1954, 1962, 1971, 1987, 1989, 1993, 2000, 2002, 2003

Dodgers: 1941, 1942, 1949, 1953, 1955, 1959, 1963, 1965, 1966, 1974, 1977, 1981, 1985, 1988, 2004, 2009
