All in one MLB Mod with Facegen question.

Installed this last night and was blown away by how great it is.

When the amateur draft is held, will the fictional players created have facegen pictures?

I literally just answered this in the mods forum. Yes, they will.

The facegens created for this mod are simply incredible. The people that worked on this project deserve a huge round of applause. Thanks.

Oh and just to see what some of the real historical pictures looked like I created a 1977 league. I will say this, Vern Ruhle(God rest his soul) was one ugly baseball player

On behalf of the people that made it (myself being one of them), thanks a bunch. It has been awesome hearing how much people have enjoyed it. It's reactions like that and like yours that make doing stuff for this community so worthwhile.

For starters get FaceGen (its free!). Follow the instructions on their site. It's really easy to figure out. Once you've created your own facegens simply put them into "F:\Program Files\Out of the Park Developments\OOTP Baseball 11\data\fg_files" folder. Name it something like "firstname_lastname.fg" (ex: joe_blow.fg). Make sure you have a player by the same name in-game (ex: Joe Blow) and it should automatically load that facegen. If not just create a new picture and it'll show.

I'd also suggest heading over to http://www.soxxcountry.com/ and checking stuff out over there. It's a great place for everything FaceGen/OOTP.

cephasjames, thanks alot... I didnt know it was that easy! .... Also, I have one more question about making facegens, a lot of the players are smiling in their pics, so when you generate the pic it has the teeth as lips. how do you fix that?

I know we've talked through PM, but I just wanted to share this for anyone else too.

Grrr. The Lipteeth, as I like to call them. This is by far the most frustrating thing to deal with. The best advice I can give is to play around with the mouth markers. If its a small smile don't put the markers right on the corners like they say. Move the markers down just a bit from the corners and then give it a try again. This may or may not work the first time, just be patient, you'll figure out a fairly good system eventually. Same thing for bigger smiles but you may need to play around with the mouth markers more.

My goal was to have the teeth as close to centered on the lips as possible. It might show some teeth but at least it'll be even. Showing teeth can be fiddled with with my next tip. Once you have the teeth centered on the lips go to "Colour" tab and scroll down until you find the "lips-" and "lipstick-" options. Fiddle with those to try and lessen the lipteeth. I usually make the lips paler or lighter red, then make them darker red. This usually does the trick.

It's kind of a trial and error thing, unfortunately. I emailed the guy who made FaceGen and he's says there's no real way around it.

And to anyone and everyone, if this is at all interesting to you head on over to soxxcountry.com. Any work you do can be added to the Historical FaceGen Project and can speed up the process of having every player in history (that has a workable photo) to ba added to OOTP as a facegen.

The lips thin/thick slider is also very good for "shutting the mouth" and hiding the teeth. You can always test this by going to the "morph" slider and making him smile with an open mouth.

Remaining real pics in OOTP11

One question for you Facegen pros- I downloaded the large facegen files in-game and the results are great. However, I noticed that some players, many minor leaguers, some major leaguers, still sport their real pics. Is this something I would have to go in and manually change for each real pic or am I missing something here? (For example: I am GMing the Nats in a 2010 MLB game and Livan Hernandez comes up in his Mets pic from last season.)

Thanks.

Regarding teeth, its a bit of extra work, but I've been using psp to fix the teeth first. if you have psp or something similar, it's actually pretty easy to do. I know Im far from an expert, but am pretty happy with the results. even if you just smear the lip area with skin, facegen does a good job of redefining the lip area during the import.

I'm not 100 percent sure when Livan Hernandez signed, but he may not have been on the 40-man roster when the Nationals faces were created. for the most part, only the 40 man rosters were created before the release.

This isnt a big deal, but something else I noticed with a few facegen imports is a players weight can really skew the accuracy. For example, Ryan Howard and Cecil Fielder. After importing, they end up with double chins and a stretched out faces. This seems to mostly occur with very heavy players, like Howard and Fielder. When I lower their weight from 270 (or what ever it is) to around 200, their facegen photo looks a lot more accurate.

Anyway, I'm not even sure if ootp can control this or if it's something built into the facegen engine part of the game, but would it be possible to disable a players weight effecting a players facegen photo for 'REAL' imported players? if not, changing the weight is easy enough

Looks good. I thought about doing this but didn't. Nice to see someone try it and find that it works.
