Amateur Draft Set Up Question
Regarding the option to Generate players for X rounds...
Does checking this mean that players will be generated in addition to any Minors, feeders etc? |

The manual states the following but doesn't clarify the above question.
The manual states: This option allows you to define how many rounds' worth of players you want to generate. By default, the game will generate just enough players for all teams to draft in each round. This gives you the ability to create more or fewer players than necessary. This value can be between 0 and 150. Last edited by jagreen; 04-17-2010 at 01:44 PM. |

If your settings require say 1000 players for your draft and your feeders only produce say 500, the game will generate an additional 500 players. Last edited by William Satterwhite; 04-17-2010 at 02:07 PM. Reason: additional info |

That is a lot of players in a draft, What is a good enough amount of players to fill a draft? What do people use out there for there number of rounds and players?

I believe the general suggestion is 5 rounds per minor league level- the game will warn you if it thinks your draft is too low. It really depends on if you want to use full minors or not, if you set your minors to allow incomplete rosters you can get away with less.
I like to use 15 rounds and generate players for 20 so that there's a good number of undrafted players available to sign as FAs if needed- most of the rookie League and Short-Season A rosters are already full at game start so having a really big draft seems to lead to a glut of players on those lower level teams. |

It seems like this would be really important, but it's not. Minor league rosters are packed with 20 overall, 20 potential players and ghost players can protect you from problems. The biggest thing to consider when setting up feeders or # of rounds is how much talent you want in the draft. More players = better players in the middle rounds of the draft. It's important to get the talent depth, scouting, and talent hits all to your liking. Feeders provide significantly more talent than generated players, but you can combine two.
