Illegal Number of Players error

I just purchased OOTP11 and I am trying to just sim 10 seasons or so before jumping in with a team and I get to 9/6/10 and it pops up this error "GCL has an illegal number of players on active roster! (6)"

Now, I am not acting as any team and I went and clicked "Fill Teams With Fictional Players" but still it won't let me pass this date.

What can I do?

I might try turning on Ghost Players. This allows the minors to function when teams don't have enough contracted players to fill out lineups.

Thanks for your help. I went in and just added players to the GCL Cardinals who had just 6 players. If the problem persists, I will certainly turn on Ghost players.

Is that GCL team in the playoffs?? Looking at the date, I bet it is. Look at the transaction screen for that team and see if a lot of it's players were promoted up a class. Also, check and see if it happened on the off day between playoff dates. If so, make a copy of that saved game. We may need it as this was a problem during beta and was fixed. I tested it numerous times after the fix and had no problems. However you're settings could be different. If the cause is what I think it is, turning on ghost players won't help. After you make a copy if possible. You can try demoting the players the AI promoted back to that team and see if you can continue.

You'll get this error if you don't have enough players in the draft. Increas the number of players ( you don't need to increase the number of rounds) and that should keep the problem from happening in the future.
