North American Baseball League
Hello I am in the process of getting a dynasty going for the North American Baseball League. This league is based off the NHL. Season began in 1942 with the Original 6 teams using imported financial and player modifications for that year. I just added the 1967 NHL expansion teams into their own subleague called the American League. I plan on simming to the 1972 season add the WHA as the World Baseball Association as its own league using 8 teams that had the longest running WHA franchises. From there i am simming till the begining of 1979 where I will merge the Winnipeg Jets, Edmonton Oilers, New England Whalers and the Quebec Nordiques into the North American Baseball league then control a mediocre franchise. I will be adding league history here pretty soon once i get everything in order. Hope everyone enjoys this as it is my first attempt at reporting a dynasty to these forums! Of course if anyone wants any other information on the league as i post updates such as team stats and so on feel free to ask!

Championship History
Well the time has come to post the title history of the short lived World Baseball Assosciation. No team really established dominance. The Quebec Nordiques are the only team to have captured the championship twice. They were the final champion as well.
As far as the National Baseball League goes the Detroit Red Wings have proven their dominance of the league with an astonishing 21 times capturing the title 8 of those times. While they were part of the original 6 that ran for 24 years I still think this is a great feat. As far as the expansion teams go I was a little worried at first that they would have a hard time establishing themselves in the championship. But they have captured the championship 7 times out of the 12 years since expansion. The most successful expansion team is a tie between the LA Kings and the St Louis blues with 3 a piece. Next thread I am moving to all time leaders in main stats. |

WBA is no more
Sports News Agency
10/13/1978 Word has just come in from the World Baseball Association. They have said they cannot support a league any longer. The plan from today is going to be to merge 4 teams into the National Basebaill League. The teams that are going to be moved into the NBL are going to be the Edmonton Oilers, Winnipeg Jets, Minnesota North Stars, and this years champion Quebec Nordiques. How is this going to affect the NBL is a question that many people are asking today. My personal take on this is I honestly don't think much will change much. A few years ago if you had asked me this question I would say that the quality of teams in the WBL would hurt the NABL. But in the last few years the WBL has shown that it can put on the same quality of games as the longer running NABL. Even the WBL's single season home run record is higher than the elder league! Next year should be an interesting year for everyone interested in baseball... See you on the Diamond next year!!! |

(sorry for no update on the 4 WBL teams merging... I made some mistakes regarding expansion franchises and 1980 is a pretty stable year where i can focus on managing my team and not worry about getting the league setup correctly)
Boston Globe 11/01/80 Boston Bruins Announce New GM The Boston Bruins are looking for someone to clean up the mess made by it's last GM. That man is Cam Neely. The Bruins are coming off a 71-91 season. However they did make the playoffs but with recent rule changes there are 8 teams per conference making the playoffs. To put it in retrospect only 2 teams in the Prince Of Wales conference had worst records. The Canadiens and the Sabres. Cam Neely has a vision of a team with great speed on the basepaths. Good pitching and lots of contact hitting. He is not a big power equals runs type guy like most teams in the league. Will this new GM's strategy pay off? We will have to see in the upcoming season. Should be interesting none the less. Last edited by sbailey85; 04-13-2010 at 08:40 AM. Reason: explanation for lapse in time |
