Preparing to Remove a League

I'm a little ahead of myself, but wanted to solicit feedback from any of you who have gone through the process. Next year (game time), I am scheduled to vote (virtually) - and it will likely pass - on the elimination of my international league and continue my solo endeavor with only the US based league. For those of you who've done this:

1) Has it been simply a matter of clicking the Delete League button? All there was to it? Is that step required for all of its minor league affiliations as well?

2) Obviously, the free agent pool will be flooded with all of these players, most of which are marginal at best. Do you physically trim the pool down or let it run its course? Do you recall if all of the personnel are released to their respective pools, too?

3) I'd want the league history to be preserved even though the league folded. I'm assuming this is done, as long as I don't Erase league history and choose only the Delete option?

4) Any particular scenarios or backgrounds you've given to the folding of a league? I'd be interested in enhancing or changing my planned storyline on its demise.

Thanks in advance for any info.

The only other idea I can come up with is transfer teams to an league that will still exist before deleting them. You won't have league history but I think the team history might be preserved in your existing league.
So Delete league didnt work?

In my EBL league at various points i had planned on having a total of 12 different Indy League but because of certain wars (star wars fans know) these leagues all fold. although 2 come back in 2035.

So your telling me i wont be able to delete any of my Indy League w/o screwing up my EBL league?

I've deleting three leagues in my current universe. It works just fine. The history remains intact.

National Association, Union League, and Players League are all deleted leagues.

In my fictional league I delete 3-5 minor leagues every season and start up new ones. I've also deleted Major leagues as a subleague of my main league, but not as a separate league, though I don't see why it should be a problem.

1) To do what you want I would delete all the minors first before deleting the major league. Not sure if it matters, but I'd go the safe route. I'm thinking that maybe if you don't, you'll lose the history for them.

2) History is preserved (team and league).

3) Personnel is a problem sometimes. When I first started doing it, I just deleted the leagues, but something happened and I ended up with 8000 coaches in the pool. Not sure what it was, but since that episode I have fired all the personnel and released all the players before deleting teams and/or leagues and I have had no further problems.

4) No need to trim the FA pool; it will trim itself of players who don't find jobs in a season or two.

5) The only reasons teams and leagues ever fold is lack of money.....

There is no problem getting rid of leagues. Keeping their history in any other way than a saved HTML report is quite a different story though.

For instance you have League A you are keeping and leagues B,C, and D are indys. If you delete the INDY league B all traces of league B are gone other than in histories of players who played for league B. It has no effect on A, C, or D though.
That's just not correct. All of the history is still accessible from the main history page.

Hmm, you are right. Confirmed that by test. I have never noticed that history home saves all history from all leagues in the universe. Thank you for letting me know that. So deleting the league does maintain the history.

Next historical run or, fictional with a historical setup and evolution, I guess I will add UL and PL since the histories will be there. I thought the Histories would be lost when I folded them.

Note multiple edits to remove post are to help people find the answer here not cover up the fact I was wrong.

Deleting leagues works. Trying to run a game with an empty league does not work. So for instance, if you are playing historical you can't just setup a Union League with no teams and import them when the time comes. The game will crash if you have a league that exists but has no teams in it. You have to set up the league when the time comes to import the teams.

For some reason, when I deleted my feeder leagues, they somehow still get populated with players every year. I don't know how this happens.
