Pete (Lahman ID# 3685 for handy reference) shows up in 1871 and retires after that year. John (Lahman ID# 3684) shows up in 1873 and retires after the 1874 season...The only problem is they are both the same guy: Pete J. (John I presume?) Donnelly, who played in 1871, 1873, and 1874 for the Fort Wayne Kekiongas, the Washington Blue Legs, and the Philadelphia Whites respectively in the National Association.
For now, I'll allow them to maintain their split personality, but I just thought I should let you know as a search of the forums I did failed to mention it and you are the hysterical database go to guy over here at OOTP. It's probably a recent discovery dug up by Dave Smith and his dedicated army over at Retrosheet, which has yet to make it into the Lahman database. This is in no way meant as a criticism of Sean or Dave, as seamheads everywhere should be eternally grateful for their contributions along with Sean Forman of BB-Ref fame for bringing sortability to the efforts of the other two.
There are a lot of different text files (plus the .odb monster) that are affected by poor Mr. Donnelly's split personality, but I'm sure you could fix them up in a nanosecond (in time for OOTP11 maybe?) whereas I would take forever and probably find a way to eff it up and of course messing with the database in any way while you're in the middle of a game is not highly recommended unless you enjoy starting over
again, which I do not wish to do. Thanks for your assistance and constant contributions.
