I just saw this. He was one of my favorite pitchers as a kid. He had the most wonderful delivery...part Luis Tiant, part Pedro Martinez. He could really whip that ball in, from an variety of angles.

Oh boy, I'm really sad about this. Mike Cuellar threw a screwball and I remember watching him show how to throw it on some TV thing round 1969-70. I was a lefty too and went out and practiced this for days and had good success. It really hurt my arm at first but I didn't care at the time as the ball really moved and confused the hitters.

My condolences to his family.
