Obsolete-----Have you lost a league because it got corrupted?

I was wondering how prevalent this was. Have you ever had a league get corrupted so you either had to trash it or restore a backup of it?

I'm not counting problems caused by a computer or hard drive problem, just problems you believe were caused by an OOTP bug.

Please vote in new poll: http://www.ootpdevelopments.com/boar...rupt-lost.html

I can't think of any times I got a corrputed league. The only times I can think of are when I've setup things wrong.

I answered yes, but it only happened once and it has been a while since this happened. I was using OOTP 2007 when I got the dreaded "an error has occured in OOTP". Went to restart league and the file was toast. I have not had this issue with any other league.

Might be better to rephrase the question as relating to leagues created in OOTP10. I answered no, but I know that my OOTP6.5 online leagues have occasionally had to restore from backup. Usually, this has been the result of a wonky team export that messed up the league file.

Yep. I have even had an export corrupt things in OOTP 10 once (about 6 months back).... but since I backup it was not that much of an issue other than time... but I certainly did not "lose the league."

I started with 6.12 (just before 6.5 I think?) but fortunately have never lost a league.

Yikes, it is a little scary how frequently things get screwed up. I didn't state this originally, but I didn't mean only multiplayer leagues. I am counting single player leagues too.

Should I create another poll and make separate choices for version and single-player / online and allow multiple selections?

For example:
Pre OOTP 9
OOTP 9
OOTP 10
single player
online

Why not make a poll to find out if you should create another poll?

I've had that problem a few times.

In 9, I had a league three seasons deep go bye-bye.

I started a new 8 team league a few weeks ago. Since I play out all the games for all teams from the 5th inning on, I dread losing the league.

Maybe this will help diagnose the issue. I've had to restore this league three times in 45 games. A white screen comes up and says it's checking to see why OOTP stopped running while I was messing around with lineups. This has happened a few times. I shut down the game and re-open it without incident. But, other times I have no clue a problem exists. The shut down was fine and then on re-opening, the game tells me it failed to import a file.

The first time the file corrupted was just after I added some free agents. Because I like to know my players, I gave each team 25 to start. No minors. No extra players. I began filtering in free agents as the season progressed to fill in injuries (on low), or replace a guy who was 1-24, that kind of thing.

I got 15 agents in the pool and edited them to better fit my needs. Then I closed up game. Next time I went to play the file was corrupted. And the backup didn't work either.

Luckily, I have a habit of saving the game as a quick-start every week, or so. So, I just lost a couple of games.

About 30 games into the season, I did a small bit of editing on pitchers. My league was a bit low on lefties, so I transformed a few pitchers to southpaws. Closed the game. Tried to open it. File corrupted.

That time the backup worked. And I've had to use backup a third time. So, 3 crashes in 45 games. Not sure what's up. Most of the time I close the game and it opens right back up.

Hope that adds a bit of useful info.

I wouldn't say that. I've had hundreds of leagues and it has maybe only happened two or three times, if that.

The OTBA has run into some corruption problems but we were able to work around them and didn't lose too much. This league has been imported through quite a few versions though.

It is the only league I've ever had corruption problems with.

But almost 50% of players have reported corruption problems so far. That seems pretty bad.

I myself have not had any, but I have only had versions 9 and 10. I also play out my games so I don't get very far. I have only done single player leagues.

I've only had it happen once or twice out of hundreds of leagues.

I've had the message that it was corrupt and couldn't load, but I've always managed to find a way or workaround to re-establish its integrity to almost, if not, 100%. Now I will add that this hasn't happened since . . . probably v9, and then only once, IIRC.
