League Contraction

I currently have a league that is a few seasons old. I've found that there are too many minor leagues for my taste, so I'd like to contract one or two to make it easier to manage.

Is it possible to contract a league? I've seen in the manual that is possible to add a league through the wizard, but I've been unable to find out how to contract a league.

Also, when I do that what happens to the players on those teams? Do they disappear or become FA or something else? Some teams have high level quality prospects in the leagues that I'd like to contract and I'd rather those prospects not end up as FA.

Any information or help is appreciated.

Thanks.

You can contract leagues, but not via a wizard.

What happens depends on how you contract.

If you want to elminiate some teams you can do so under the Edit League Structure option. The players will be made Free Agents.

If you want to keep some of the players, promote or demote them to teams that will remain active first. Take control of computer teams temporarily (using the "Act As") to accomplish this.

Two other options:
1. In the Player Editor, change the team on which the player is assigned.
2. Export the rosters and manually change the team to which the player is assigned. Import the rosters once edited.

I use this last approach to "fold teams". Not contraction, per se (another team takes the first team's place), but its a fast and easy way to move large groups of players to other teams.

I'd give you more specific direction, but I don't have OOTP on the computer from which I'm responding to this thread.

Thanks for the response. I think I will work on the export/import optino, as it seems a better bet for mass movement.

Thanks again.

just be careful when you import them back, it screws up contracts big time.
