Memories of Leagues Past

Reading through the Chronicles of OT thread over in the off-topic forum has made me all nostalgic and I started thinking of leagues that I used to be a part of and are now defunct. When I first found OOTP, I quickly found out about the concept of online leagues and joined my first league in 2002 I believe.

FAST was a real player league started by obaslg (I believe) in 2001. I joined the league sometime around the 2004 season and took over a struggling Tampa Bay franchise. It definitely took me a bit to get used to the league and how it worked but eventually I was finally able to get Tampa Bay into a respectable team. I actually commished the league for a few seasons before the league eventually just collapsed due to inactivity and inability to recruit new owners. I remember getting my first chance to develop a web page with this league and implementing BOSI and a news posting utility. Fun stuff!

ISBLI don't remember a whole lot about the ISBL. I remember after finally getting comfortable with FAST, I would become obsessed with constantly perusing the same html pages over and over again running through different scenarios in my head and constantly thinking about my team. I figured I should put some of those efforts into running another team so I found the ISBL and took over I believe the Brewers. I think this league eventually folded because we found out that the commish had cheated.

BTTFThis was a league I was finally able to take control of my Pirates. I remember this being a league where the commish was always extremely punctual and ran the league extremely efficiently. It was a fun league even though it didn't have a ton of bells and whistles. I also remember the big controversy when after 20 years of simming, we started things all over with the current years league file (I believe it was 2004). Even though it was stated in the rules that only 20 years of game time would be simmed, it upset a lot of people when 2020 finally rolled around.

So, what are some of your memories from some of your favorite leagues of times past or present.
