Fight Night 4

Has EA listened......

The ability to create fighters and import them into your legacy mode as cpu fighters is good.

And we get 20 spaces to fill.

Going to be an awesome game, i literally cannot wait, the ability to move up and down in weight class winning multiple world titles appeals to me greatly.

I am also excited about it but 2 things need to be greatly improved from the last game and/or the demo:

1. The dynasty part of it needs to be stronger. I just want the feeling that I am but one fighter in this world of other fighters instead of how the other games felt, like I was the only fighter and the rest of the boxing world revolved around me. I would like a newspaper clipping stating, "Joe Bob to unify title against Billy Bob" or whatever like the NCAA Football games do- make it feel like there's a boxing world going on outside of what you're doing. I guess TBCB has me spoilt with this.

2. The fighting in the demo still feels a little "arcadey." The amount of punches thrown in each round, whether it be by you, your opponent, or you throwing just to keep your opponent off needs to be toned down. Most human fighters would die if they threw as many punches per round as what's thrown in the demo. I'm just chalking this up to it being Ricky Hatton's style as a pressure fighter and hope for a little more realism in the final version.

Worried about this too, but typically in demos, they have it on one of the easier (if not the easiest) difficulty level and they purposely put the sliders to where you'll get a lot of action. This version, I did read, will have sliders so you'll be able to change things like fatigue and punch accuracy (I hope).

Will you be able to watch fights betwen two cpu opponents? Eg. if there's a world title fight on the schedule that your fighter isn't involved in, will you be able to watch it?

I very much doubt that Kenyan_Cheena.

As for the game feeling a little one dimensional in terms of not knowing what else is going off in the world. I believe this game is incorporating weight division rankings as it did in the 2nd installment of FN. I personally feel the whole idea of rankings you can view at any time is exciting, it always gets my imagination going. I just hope this game lives up to the hype, which, given by its past track record, will probably be.

I read at the IGN-board that there are lot's of sliders that you could use to adjust just about anything and that the demo was set at a specific "pace".

I'm looking forward to this game as well. The Don King Boxing game has come way down in price and I'll probably add that to the collection, now, as well.

The FN series has had some ups and downs, but this current version looks to be the best by more than just "a nose" when it gets right down to the finish line.

I still play FN3 and have the settings to recreate George Foreman and Mike Tyson.

The don king one is terrible in comparison Jim, i'm a big boxing fan and enjoyed the game regardless of its absolute terrible in-game engine so you might still want to check it out however.

I'm glad you told me! That's the reason I didn't want to buy it at $60.00 US. I liked the fact that there were so many fighters. But in the end, if the controls and the in game interaction is bad, so is the game.

It's easy to fall for those nice, glossy cover graphics!

The Don King game is worse than Fight Night Round 3 imo. I enjoyed the career mode but even that got boring after a while.

Wow, I haven't been here in awhile and to see some of you older guys actually appreciating Fight Night means alot. That means I can get alot of input from you guys when I send the next suggestion and wishlist to the producers. The producers are trying to shoot for a sim feel to Fight Night Round 4, but us older guys(some older than others) know what sim is to us.

A quote form the EA forum

"From the information i have seen and heard about Legacy mode i can safely say it will be the most realistic, in-depth and customisable career mode of any other boxing game EVER. I think this will be the biggest feature in the game and i am very happy with it after watching all the videos, the fact that you can also choose were imported fighters are ranked blows my mind so if you wanted you could have Tyson as an up and comer storming through the ranks like he did in his prime or you can make him the reigning heavyweight champ. There are lots of other features that i am very happy with in legacy mode but there is too many to list so i'll just say thankyou EA for the best Boxing Legacy Mode ever."

Here's some more info about the career mode:

Diary of a Polygonal Pugilist - Videogames - ESPN

It's sounds pretty good- can't wait to see the final product.

I have in the UK. I created razor ruddock and in career mode at the time i was lennox lewis and was 6-0-0. Here is what happened....

Undefeated Lewis squared off against dangerous Razor Ruddock at the MGN Grand over 10 rounds. Lewis was ranked 34 and Ruddock 31. Whilst Lewis was the up and coming fighter, Ruddock was known for his dangerous left hook/uppercut.

Having a 2 inch height advantage Lewis took the first 3 rounds on all cards keeping out of Ruddocks big shots. This all changed in round 4 when Lewis was tagged with a big left and failed to get out of the way of another and was floored for a count of 3.

Lewis surived the round and through rounds 5 to 8 continued to pile up the points with his jab and right hand. Ruddock was rocked in rounds 6 and 8 but Lewis could not finsh him. With 30 second left in round 9 another Ruddock Left exploded on Lewis's chin. This time Lewis again was caught with a barrage of follow up punches and was floored and due to his low stamina was counted out. All Lewis needed to do was to survive one more round.

Ruddock did not do much during the fight but produced the goods when needed. Lewis will have a comeback fight before a rematch.

Awsome match that had it all. Ladies and Gentlemen here is Fight Night 4.
