Unwanted Photos
Anyone know how to keep my fictional leagues from displaying photos of real ballplayers with the same name AND to be able to keep my historical leagues using the real pictures?
I know I can put the real pictures in the saved game files and delete them in the common directory, but then I'd have to do that for every historical league....plus I have a tendency to delete them by accident when I throw the league in the trash..... |

Keep the real photos in a folder with a name that the game will ignore, like "realphotos" and copy/drag (hold down the control key while dragging) them into your historical league saved game images folder as necessary.

Still, it's a lot of crap to have duplicated 3 or 4 times on hard drive..... Maybe we could have some control from in game as to where the photos should be found?..... Last edited by Questdog; 08-08-2009 at 01:19 PM. Reason: typo |

Can't you do it by simply erasing all photos from the images folder in your fictional saved game after you've created it and/or added new fictional players? Or am I missing something?

No, by default the game goes to your photos file and looks for a match when it needs a picture. So, if for some reason your fictional game comes up with a player named "Whitey Ford," it will find his picture in that folder because matched player names override player ID's when assigning photos to player profiles. The only alternative is to make the fictional player "Whity Ford" or "Whitey B. Ford."

Its tough with same name players, most times if I have players of the same name, like the two Joe Morgan's or the 2 Dave Roberts for example.I'll keep the good Joe Morgan as just Joe Morgan, and the other guy Joseph Morgan,or Joe MI Morgan. There really should be a way to use the lahman ID for photos instead of just their names.

When I two real life players with the same name, I'll add their actual middle initials in the Editor and in the photo names. If I have a fictional in my historical league with a real life player name, I'll just give him a random middle initial. I don't suppose there is any simple solution in a fictional league, other than dealing with it player by player, unless you do something with the photos folder.
