no rosters for historical years

when i start the season in mlb year 2000 I can't find any rosters, same with all years apart from the current 2009

You have to create a custom league, then choose add historical league. From there you can choose which year you want to start playing, any year from 1871 through 2008. Follow the wizard, it's pretty easy.
