CTD somehow linked to Free Agency

I seem to have stumbled upon a CTD that is linked to Free Agency.
I had a league that did not allow free agency, two of them actually. I added a third league and had them allow free agency, and that they could sign other leagues free agenta and that their free agents could leave the league. Usually two days later, the game would crash to the desktop. I fiddled around with settings, budgets, until I turned off Free Agency in the new league, and the CTD disappeared.

I have been unable to reproduce this behavior in 10.2.16

Are there any particular steps I may have overlooked? I've gone past the two day mark you indicated was problematic without difficulties, starting through Spring Training and well into the season.
