BZ 2495: Minor league rosters don't have appropriate distribution of players

This issue has been repro'd only in Patch 1. I am playing with the 2009 MLB rosters, which are included with the game. All data is based on sims, in which I managed no teams.

Many minor league teams are out of whack when it comes to roster composition. As an example, the Braves have one farm team with 11 catchers, albeit on a 35-man roster. That seems a bit excessive. Also, I see that some teams are keeping only 6, 7, or 8 pitchers. That's not enough. No minor league team seems to have 12 pitchers or more, which is pretty much the standard in 2009 pro baseball.

The majors loook okay, but the minors are not even close to making sense.

That is a design decision. You can fill the minors with fictional players and things will right themselves. Ghost players on can also cause this challenge.

No, the minors are full. The problem is that roster composition is not what one might expect from a typical baseball team. All the team are full of players, but there are at least three problems:

Teams keep too many catchers. 11 is too many.
Some teams keep 6, 7, or 8 pitchers, leading to poor performnace.
No team keeps more than 11 pitchers, which seems like an arbitrary number that was capped in the latest version.

I appreciate your comments, but I'm starting to really see that the focus on minor league play is even less than it has ever been. I'm very disappointed.

KySteveH,

Thanks for your post, and sorry for the delay in getting back to you. The first few weeks after the release are always pretty busy around here!

This issue has come up before, and has been logged as BZ 2495. I'm going to try to get a final word from Markus on whether OOTP is really intended to attempt to construct realistic rosters throughout the minors. I believe that it IS, but I'd like to get it straight from the horse's mouth, because you're right, this is inappropriate!

Thanks,

Steve
