I hope you are just trolling for random opinions, because that's probably what you are going to get.

Your best bet is to get lots of experience with the Lahman DB, using real stats, so you know what it's giving you and what it's not. Then you can better evaluate the other options, including the neutralized stats DB that also come with the game. That's my

Yes, the gambo database contains numerous Negro leaguers and Japanese players who never made the majors. however, Gambo is updating his database for OOTPX so you get correct pitch types and everything, so if your thinking about using it, wait until he's done updating.

The best database to use in playing past seasons is the one you like the best. They are all different (of course).

Neutralized stats put all the players in the same environment and then figures out who is good, better, best. Gives you a truer look at a players skill set. If you play with scouts on however it all gets muddled anyway. Every db appeals in different ways.

I am updating my database and I have a version ready. It appears the game is not importing the correct pitch types at this time but my update does have this information and the expanded fielding information.

A related question is how do I change databases, and do the filenames make it obvious which is which?
