Request with figuring out how to make my own jersey's
I recently got pointed to Deft's templates for making jersey's and caps. I made caps for my fictional teams and am happy with them. They are no where near as nice as the ones I see many people on this forum making, but there is an amount of pride knowing I made them.
I cannot figure out how to make the Jersey's. I realize there is a tutorial but that is for a different program, I'm using GIMP 2. I also think my question is pretty straightforward as I became half way (1/8th way?) decent with GIMP to make the caps, but am stuck. As best as I can tell, the primary layer for the jersey is called Gingham. When I unselect all layers but this one, you see the basic jersey. However this jersey is checkered or textured, so when I try to select all of it, or of one section to change the color I can't. I realize this may be ridiculously simple but I just can't get past it. So how do I change the color of the jersey? Thanks in advance and I hope I don't offend anybody with my inexperience and inablilites here. |

It sounds like you are using Deft's Vintage jersey template. The gingham layer is a texture. Since I don't know GIMP, I don't know the correct terminology. The gingham layer should have a blend mode of multiply. This layer is partially see-thru and gives the appearance that the uniform is made from a gingham clothe. You can change the blend mode to overlay or anything else that gives the uniform the texture you want. Change this layer type when working with very dark colors.
What you want to change is the lowest layers. Buttoned Jersey group and Sleeves group. Since the template is in PSP format you may be loosing some information (layers get merged) when importing into GIMP. These lowest layers have a mask so that all you do is flood fill or paint the layer below the mask. You can add your own layer just above the background layer if these layers are messed up. |

Thanks a ton. Upon first read, I don't totally understand what you're saying, but this evening (hopefully) I'll open the program, and your response and see if I can figure this all out.
Again, thanks. |
