League Settings - Question for Markus

I know Markus is busy (and we want him to be but it would be VERY helpful I believe if he could put an explanation to the way the league settings work once and for all. We all have put words around our trial and error methods, IatricSB has even come up with the calculator to get numbers - but even the calculator uses a trial and error method.

I've collected some good work from good people and posted that work at BigCityBaseball, but I still am in the camp that "knows it works, but doesn't understand why".

If Markus could give us some insight on how the game uses these numbers (and why "up is down" and "down is up") I think we could better understand it, better explain it, and maybe even come up with a guideline/utility that would be easier than what we go through now (mostly for new customers).

Any chance of this ?

Henry

ps: While I'm at it, I'd like to put in a plug again for the League settings and player creation modules to be provided in the game through a menu

He did offer this explanation:

So, if a player has a rating that reflects about 50 HRs per season, it looks better compared to a low league total of HRs than a high one. Therefore, if you lower the league totals of HRs the simulated numbers will increase! Makes sense?
