Questionable AI Award selections
In my 1880 season Charley Radbourn played in 58 games of 84 game season at 2b. In 881 he moved to pitcher and came in 2nd for the rookie of the year award. Shouldnt he have been inelgible. Or does the game go by modern min abs to determine the award? Shouldnt it take into consideration schedule length?
Thats why i think it would be good to give us some criteria for the AI to use when making awards like in the HOF selection.
Although i dont use the AI in HOF selection because i like to use the 5 year waiting period but i do use it in Awards and allstar selection. I just like thinking of it as voters and some times awards wont be perfect. But it shouldnt be way off base.
Another thing is that if a team moves from one league to another and had the best pitcher that pitcher isnt even consider for the award for the previous league.
For example in 1881 Corcoran went 22-11 for Worchester. They moved from the NL to the AL and all the Pitchers the AI selected for the NL best pitcher award all had losing records at 17-19 or so. Clearly Corcoran was the best pitcher on the best team that won the championship.
Wouldnt it be better to have the awards and then have the teams change leagues?
