I dont know the answer... cause I have yet to do it. But if I release a player with a bigger than he deserved contract am I still on the hook for all the money.

I know, I know... I can't for the life of me remember? Stupid brain.

You might want to dial down the trading difficulty first, because on "Hard" it's, uh, hard to get rid of somebody like that. "Not interested in overpriced aging veterans" or something along those lines.
