The AllTime Baseball Alliance
This will require the willing suspension of disbelief, but heck, that's the fun of it.
- Best players in baseball history based on a roster set called Franchise Stars, with some added Negro Leaguers. - Inaugural draft - 32-team universe fictional teams, 2 leagues with 4 divisions of 4 teams in each. Two levels of minors for each franchise. - 4 division winners make the playoffs, no wild cards. - 154 game schedule To get people acquainted (and buy me some time to set up stadiums, finances, etc.) I'll be doing team-by-team overviews before this all gets underway. Hopefully, you'll enjoy the result. |

Sorry I haven't updated this, but I've been straightening some things out, including team names and such. I'm admittedly pilfering some names from others' dynasties or the logo section of the mods forum. I should have the first couple of team previews tomorrow.

Thanks...sorry it's taking longer than I expected, but I'm doing some revisions, adding some players to the database. It's interesting, because guys are in this set based on their best year with the team they were assigned to...so some guys are 23, some are 30, some are 35. So you look at some rosters and you wonder how player A slots above player B, but it's because that player's import season was a bit better, for whatever reason, even though that player's CAREER wasn't better. So roster moves/position shifts occur at times, the latter of which I'm trying to prevent at least for the start (for example, the Dodgers moved Ron Cey to second base to play Pedro Guerrero at 3B...I don't want Cey at 2B for the purposes of a free-for-all draft though).
So basically, that's a longwinded way of saying I'm doing some housekeeping before kicking this off. But I appreciate the interest. |

Adding a bunch more guys, as there are a LOT of pitchers and it seems draftwise in test runs teams are drafting far more pitchers than they need. So more work to do before this is up and running, but it'll get moving. |

Need names for Denver and Chicago...just trying not to do the usual for those places (i.e. Hitmen, etc. for Chicago, or Rockies, Freeze, etc. for Denver). If I have to use those, I will, but am open to other suggestions (I just can't imagine Collossus as a baseball team name, though I think it has the makings of a very cool logo).

How about a couple of the big cats, the Denver Lions and the Chicago Jaguars?
Also, just wondering if you'll be having interleague play and also, how the 154-game schedule will work as far as total games against each team is concerned. |

As for the scheduling: No interleague, with DH. Games will actually be 156, not 154, heavily divisional. 28 games against each of the 3 other teams in your division, 6 games against each of the other 12 teams in the league. Thanks for your interest.

I haven't been able to post here for days for reasons I'm not sure about. Still adding a few players, but getting close. Probably within a week or so.

Players are in, so now it's just fixing the league structure and getting the team names, etc. in. But I'll do the draft, since I want to do previews for each of the teams before I start this anyway (since it's real players with fictional teams in a free draft, to get people a bit familiar at the start). So previews should start tomorrow.

Time to get down to business. The draft has been completed, and the results are really interesting to watch. Because it's based on Franchise Stars, with guys rated based on their best season with their real-life franchise and potential based on the rest of their careers after that point, you have some guys picked higher than they would normally be because of their career year used. Some picks make perfect sense...others will make you just shake your head. Of course, that's exactly how the real draft works. Age is a factor, too. So let's start taking looks at the teams, get to know them and pick your favorite as we go through. And in a few weeks, after I've tended to some cleanup stuff here, the season will begin.
Previews start next. |

Charlotte Cougars
![]() Offense: The idea that the Cougars were able to get "Shoeless" Joe Jackson (1st Round) and Ty Cobb (5th Round) together seems just silly. But adding Dick Allen and Vladimir Guerrero gives the potential for some dynamic offense here. He has his shortcomings, but Cecil Fielder - expected to platoon early with Willie Upshaw - makes for five stellar bats. Despite the fact that an alltime setup like this heightens star potential, that's going to be a very hard top 5 to match up against. Pitching: This is where the questions lay. Again, the alltime setting must be taken into account, and when that's factored in it's hard to see a staff led by Vean Gregg, George McQuillan and Erik Hanson holding up under scrutiny. Prospects: 7 of the Baseball America top 10 are on the major league roster, with #6 David Palmer, #9 Augie Galan and #10 Zack Greinke waiting in the wings. Jackson, Allen and Guerrero are the top 3. Age: One everyday player 30 or over, and that's Cobb who's an even 30. Joe Adcock on the bench is 32, but everyone else is on the young side. On the mound, only Lew Burdette tops 30 (31). Of the tentative rotation, 4/5 are 25 or under, with Mike Garcia (28) being the old man. But Jackson starts here at 22, Dick Allen at 21, Vlad Guerrero at 25. That's a great young core to have. Rotation Vean Gregg George McQuillan Erik Hanson Gary Peters Mike Garcia Closer Jim Kern Lineup DH Vlad Guerrero 2B Jorge Orta RF Ty Cobb LF Joe Jackson CF Earl Averill 1B Willie Upshaw/Cecil Fielder 3B Dick Allen SS John Valentin C Johnny Bassler/Mike Lieberthal |

just wondering, do you have a list of players who will be introduced through the draft each season as this league continues?

No, because it will be fictional guys as of now. This league will have a finite lifespan, with a 5-round draft after each year just to replenish things a bit. I may try and work more real Negro League and Japanese players in as it goes on, but we'll see. First I want to just try and keep it going as it is...if I put too much "work" into it I'll get worn out on it, and I don't want to do that.
