Can't get Minor League coaches to sign a contract
Could not find this anywhere, but why do I have such a hard time signing minor league personnel to contracts. I'm running a fictional MAL and I've offered managerial contracts for my AAA club to maybe 2 dozen guys without a taker. They say they will sign for such and such and I add several thousand $$$ on top of that and they still are sorry but no thanks. This also happens with coaches and at all levels. Any ideas?

I've had this problem too. My guess is that something is broken. If you let the AI manage the organization, it will be able to hire personnel with no problem. I suspect that so many gamers sim everything, this problem doesn't get noticed. You might want to post a bug report on this one.

I finally managed to get a guy to manage my club, after 30 contract offers
. Another question: When I go to "Review Your Financials", under General Info I have selected Rebuild. I manage the day-to-day activities of my team, handle trades, set linups, etc. Does the Rebuild setting affect my team in terms of it's ability to win a championship. I currently have a pretty good team and am making a run at the playoffs. I'm not sure what this setting actually does, or if I should change it to Win Now! as I head towards the post season. Any ideas? |

Jack and Steve, in this latest version the developer purposely made the coaching recruitment process more difficult to better simulate reality. It was pretty boring before, frankly. I think he made it similar to player free agency negotiation in which higher salary may not be the only determinant as to whether the coach will sign. If I am correct, a coach will now also consider whether a minor-league position matches his experience, whether your organization has been recently successful or not, and maybe even the distance from where he lives to the ballclub's location.
Regarding that Team Focus setting, I am pretty sure that it only has an effect if you have delegated such team controls as Roster Moves and Transactions to your AI manager in Manager Options. By the way, when you do that it also activates the Overall Roster Strategy settings on your Team Strategy page. Otherwise, with you making all the strategic decisions, you are setting the team focus and overall roster strategy. |

Thanks 1998. I usually customize the search to less years experience for entry level teams and then up the experience for AA and AAA, but never thought to look at home town. Sometimes my offers get taken quickly while other times it just takes forever. I'm trying to be more proactve and offer extensions which sometimes works and sometimes not. Oh, well...
By the way, another Yankee fan here, which as a New Hampshire native has never been the easy raod. |
