Who is still getting the draft & release bug with OOTP9?

An entire AI league is experiencing this in the test OOTP 9 version of our league. The issue has been logged as BZ 1743: Draft and release issue. We haven't converted over yet to OOTP 9, but if this problem remains unfixed we'll probably have to delete the affected league since they're releasing all their best players for anyone to pick up.

Nutlaw later updated that bug thread with news that the problem has been "marked as something to be addressed at a later time." I'm not sure if that means in a future patch or in a future version of the game (hopefully the former).

That may be a different issue. This one is for human controlled on-line teams.

eMLB and HH saw this when the sim was not advanced to the next day before accepting imports. Finish the day the draft is on, advance the day, then create a file to upload. Upload it, have the users download and do their typical chores, then export.

When the date was rolled over to the next day, we never saw this issue.

Ah, I see now. You're right, Nutlaw: the problem I'm experiencing is different than Kelric's. I have experienced what he's talking about as well, and I believe Raidergoo has it right; it seems to be a byproduct of pre-draft imports being brought in during/after the draft.

True. But if you break the draft up across multiple rounds and use the new in-game draft lists, you have to import several times without advancing past the draft day. This is the issue to which Kelric is referring.

We run round one, people update their draft lists, we import for rounds two and three, and players from round one get released. And so on and so on.

This is just a shot in the dark but this might be happening if some teams are failing to update their export and/or teams are not downloading the league file after each round. What might be happening is, after a round is completed, the commissioner uploads the latest league file. Then, say one team doesn't export for round 2. His team will get imported anyway since the date hasn't changed. So what happened? Well his export was before round one and his pick was not on his team at that time. Therefore, when the commish imports again, the team gets imported without its pick from round one and the game sees it as a "release".

If this is indeed happening, the proper steps to fix it would be to stress the importance to the league members of having to update their league files after each round. The commissioner should delete all team exports from the server immediately after importing to prevent old exports from dropping draft picks.
