Position and Roster Moves

I've been so immersed in, well, nevermind. It's been so long since I have actually played the game, I'm finding I have a couple of questions along the way that I need re-clarified; especially those of you who have become very familiar with v9.

1) What effect does the checkbox Prevent AI Roster Moves have any longer? I don't recall, now, the original reasons it was put there. Don't the manager settings all prevail over that box anyway? What happens if I just leave it alone; pretend it's not there?

2) This has been discussed in the forums, but I think it's been relegated to the suggestion area. Other than manually setting up the depth charts for every pitching situation and basically managing the rosters myself, there is not an easier way to tell the game, "I want this guy to start at 1B, this guy to start at SS?" Even in so doing, do you then have to go to each pitching situation (handedness) and choose - it's still there isn't it - the Generate Lineup based on these Depth Charts? Something tells me even if I do all that, if I don't maintain strict control over every day to day action (let's call that the Beane mode), then my selection for SS will end up at a 3B position regardless of my GM memo, right?

Okay. *sigh* I'll catch up sooner or later, but man was it great working my way through the Inaugural all this afternoon and early evening. LOVE this game. What brought me here is, after all was said and done, I pressed that OK to let the computer take care of organizing my team. Of course it didn't match my draft scratch sheet, full of notes and comments about who I wanted where on the active roster.

3) While the other teams look like their players, presumably based on the active roster occupation, already have major league contracts, all of mine are still showing with minor league contracts, despite having moved a lot of these players around (see the Okay note above). It's only Jan 03, so I have to assume it's giving the human player a break until the end of ST. Would that be correct?

Thanks in advance, guys. Really nice to be playing again. Now I just want to figure out a way to re-install my Bobble Mood icons and the league will be complete. It's all right. I can live without them, just not as well.

Players with minor league contracts won't be given a Major League contract until the season starts.
